We said prior to the UCONN game the next four games were MUST WINS.....

One down
Three to go

Next up: @USF who just lost at Marquette in a tough one.

This game will be very tough as we have already defeated them once and they are playing really well....even in the loss to Marquette they looked tough.

Let's do it!
Joe Lunardi on ESPN now has us as "first one out" of ncaa.......we we are inching closer.

We need to win the next three as mentioned above and then "steal" one against either WVA, Nova, or Gtown.

But first things first...we have a tough one at USF- Tue night I believe....
USF is a tough out for us. We just don't seem to play well against them.

The other day all teams in the Last Four Out were from the Big East. 03-puke Meanwhile, down conferences like the SEC and ACC were getting equal or more bids than the Big East. 03-puke

yeah true....I can't wait for the BE teams that DO make it in to make some runs...I will be surprised if all of our current ranked teams don't go middle to deep this year. I like most matchups vs all of the ACC and most of the SEC vs BE in the tourney this year. Even UK...and they are a really good team, but their SOS was, last I saw, like 127....not exactly playing BE-type schedules.....so we'll see.

UC beat USF handily a month ago without Lance and with Yancy playing 10 minutes. Granted, it was at home, but UC led the entire second half.

Agreed. It was at home, but the Bearcats were dominating USF.

One of my best friends is a USF graduate. This is a big game for me.
It's great that we got ourselves back in it with a big win yesterday, but the road is still really hard for UC, which has the toughest remaining schedule of the middle BE teams.

SF is a big challenge down there. Keep in mind they hadn't hit their stride yet when we beat them here. SF looked bad last nite, but Marquette can make you look bad at home. SF also has Gilchrist back, which is a wild card. Marquette figures to be a real match-up problem with their quickness and great shooting.

Then we have the ranked teams to close out. 9-9 would be a real achievment.
We needed Cuse to beat Louisville today, but it looks like Louisville will pull off the road upset which should put them in the tourney at this point. Tim Higgins, the worst official in the game IMO, decided to make the game about him instead of the kids and called a horrible intentional foul call with 20 seconds left and a 2 point game. What a joke that guy is.
I don't see what Louisville making the tournament has to do with us. I don't see many other leagues getting teams snubbed simply because of some arbitrary glass ceiling. The BE should be able to get 12 teams in if those 12 teams are deserving, just like how the Big Ten got something like 7 or 8 teams of their 11 in last year - grossly disproportionate considering the strength of conferences top to bottom and their size.

If the cats don't make the tournament, it won't be Louisville's fault. We need to take care of business down the stretch.
Even with a loss today, UC was not going to finish better than tied with UL in the BE standings. UL winning had little bearing on UC's postseason aspirations. ND, Marquette, Seton Hall and USF are the horses UC is running against.

Not to mention Old Miss, Maryland, Dayton, Cal, Old Dominion, Richmond, UNLV, Siena, Texas Tech, UAB, SD State, Oklahoma State, Charlotte, Utah State, St Mary's, Missouri, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Washington, Wichita State, Cornell, Florida, Mississippi State, UTEP, Nevada, Arizona State and Tulsa.

Seriously at this point in the year there are a ton of teams alive for the bubble. Most of these teams will have chances to enhance their resume's over the final month. There is no cap on Big East teams... the committee will choose like they always choose ...based on who you beat and who beat you. I haven't really began looking at the cutoff yet and how many of those bubble teams will get in the tournament... but that's the big group we are competing with.
The committee does seem to be stuck at the number 8, however. I just don't see more than 8 Big East teams getting in the tournament no matter how good they are. We need to be in the top 8 of the Big East at the end of the season.
I strongly believe 8 is the ceiling no matter how much they doth protest that its not. I'll spare us all the novella for why I believe that to be the case.
I think we will be lucky to get 8 this year...most likely we are looking at the 6-7 range.......

Which is crazy considering the Pac 10 is a joke this year and they're talking six teams getting in from the A 10. 01-wingedeagle
