this guy is clearly a Tech hater. I don't know if we are getting in but anyone who doesn't think that Tech is in the running for the next spot in CUSA is just fooling themselves and loses all credibility. We have a four game series coming up with USM and UH. No you are right, we are not building relationships for future movement.

We've had multiple home-and-home series with CUSA teams....does this mean we're almost in too?

Hey moron, my only mentions of Tech were that they weren't really considered last time for a berth (which, if you actually did your homework, you'd realize is true.) and mentioned them as a possible partner in a very watered down WAC. I mentioned UNT as the most probable addition to CUSA because of their facilities and overall market size. That's something called logic. You got any???

Da-Da-Da-DAMN!!!!!!!!
Based on my contacts within the Memphis athletic department, not expanding had more support in CUSA than any program other than UTEP.

CUSA has shown they have a type in who they look for. They want either urban without regard to following or they will take smaller market schools that have demonstrated high achievement (Southern Miss, East Carolina, Marshall).

I don't see anyone out there throwing the sorts of crowds those three had, the bowl appearances, and post-season rankings. Marshall was averaging over 27,000 before being invited. East Carolina came in with the second highest attendance in CUSA and the largest season ticket base.

yeah but logic would also tell you that pretty soon all sunbelt and Tech facilities will probably all be remodeled to look just as good as N. Texas. As a matter of fact Tech's althletic complex is being done by the same people. UL will soon have have a football field that will be a full circled bowl and new press box. N. Texas market is already taken in CUSA and I might add by a school that doesn't care for them too much. Try using your logic. Got any???? I mean you make some good points in your blog but by clearly discounting a school because you hate them so much makes you look like a fool. Louisiana Tech, love them or hate them, will be very much considered for the next round of expansion.

Logic tells me that if a spot opens in C-USA that the presidents will look at schools that look a lot like what they already have.

That means Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana Lafayette, ULM, Western Kentucky, and Troy sit this one out unless they are suddenly playing Top 25 basketball. Middle may not be close enough to Nashville for their taste either. North Texas to deal with presence already in the market. FIU's NCAA run-ins are likely to recent. FAU and USA may get a look.

I disagree that TCU is in the Big XII mix. The Big XII owns that market. TCU brings no new dollars to the table. Houston brings no new dollars to the table. The Big XII would either look to BYU (who might be cured of no Sunday play if Utah leaves for an AQ league), New Mexico, Colorado State or Air Force.

They will not be looking at who fits nicely on a map, it will be about new television markets (or in the CSU/AFA scenario keeping one they have) and schools that can bring money that aren't in a league that pays out more than the Big XII (rules out all SEC and Big 10 schools).

As far as UNT goes, they'll need to add baseball to be taken seriously by C-USA.
FIU's NCAA run-in's? Is that all you got? What about the addition of our on-campus Medical and Law Schools in the last 10 years? How 'bout 40,000 students? 150,000 local alumni? football recruiting hotbed? T.V. market? and finally...location, location, location.

It think those items listed may trump the apr issue we're working through.

I'm not usually one to correct another's spelling on a message board, but I find something rather amusing about someone starting a post with "Hey moron" only to misspell a very common word within the first line.

As it turns out...berth is correct, odd word though and makes me wonder how many times people have used the word "birth" when "berth" would be more accurate.

[/quote] Now that my friend would make a good blog. I agree with all of your points. I think Tech will have to depend highly on its ablility to pull in the N. Louisiana market. We are making inroads but have a long way to go. MT needs to do the same thing with the Nashville market. I really think the front runners for another expansion spot are LT, MT, NT, and W.Ky. and all things considered don't rule out travel cost over TV markets. TV markets haven't proven to be all that fruitful for CUSA. They might just want an established program with good facilities that is in reasonable driving distance to cut travel expenses. This economy is determining alot of decisions
I'd tend to listen to the ESPN Insiders over you...

Quote:Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson told Natalie Meisler of the Denver Post that his conference is prepared if it is raided during the seemingly inevitable expansion wars. "Absolutely, we would be prepared tomorrow for any number of scenarios," Thompson said on Wednesday. "We've always been proactive; we are doing the necessary research and looking at all options."

The MWC stands to lose at least two schools if the most popular scenarios play out. Either both Utah and BYU join the Pac-10, or Utah and Colorado do, leaving the Big 12 to poach TCU.

At any rate, perhaps the best-case scenario would be to form a giant superconference with the WAC and hope that after a couple of years of success, it might merit inclusion in the BCS. Otherwise its options are severely limited, since it seems unlikely that the MWC could get anyone to leave higher-rated Conference USA.
i also think that if BYU got off the no play on sunday issue than BYU is definitely the PAC10's first choice over UTAH

Texas can go anywhere they want. They are a school that could write their own ticket. The academics are good, the athletics are good. There are no downsides to Texas. Hell the SEC even wants them.

Wow, calm the hell down.

Stating facts that presidents and chancellors look at, if that pisses you off take it up with them.
