I was bidding on this HD flat panel but was outbid. The unit can be purchased for $750 at Best Buy yet is now over $1000.

HUH?
Be careful of stuff like that. I've heard that shifty characters in foreign lands (edit: not just in foreign lands...) use stolen credit card numbers to bid on stuff and have it shipped to them. Seller doesn't mind the extra shipping hassle because he supposedly got such a great price for his item... until the charge is reversed for fraud.
I've sold thousands of items on Ebay, but no more. The fraud level is through the roof and PayPal is downright dangerous. If they automatically dump into your bank account, they can also withdraw from your bank account. One guy in Australia had his account tied up for 7 months and PayPal wouldn't release it. He lost his house. I still accept PP for payment through other venues, but have an account set up just to accept those funds before transferring them to a second account PP can't access.

Same here and I also shop on EBAY for everything. I have never had any problems with PayPal, just the opposite....
What happen with that auction, looks like shill bidding to me. That's when a seller is having someone they know bid on an item just to bid it up, or in this case maybe didn't get bids high enough, so didn't want to sell the item.

Tanya- That one has to be shill bidding. I still buy stuff on Ebay every now and then, but I decide on a top price and that's it, if I lose it, I lose it. For selling I'm on Bonanzle.

Bonanzle is a big success story. But for overall look at the market and to interact with other folks, try http://www.powersellersunite.com. You don't have to be a power seller. In fact, 99% are'nt.
