Ricky Davison was 2-2 behind the arc tonight (the official box scores on ESPN and Yahoo apparently did not count his 80 foot heave right before the half as a shot). He is now shooting 60.4% (32-53) from behind the 3 point line. That number is simply mindboggling. There are probably several hundred DI players who are not shooting that high from the foul line. On one hand, it would be easy to say that you would want him shooting more. However, I'm not a proponent of the theory that if a kid plays twice as many minutes or shoots twice as often it will lead to a doubling of his scoring average. Ricky's shot selection is obviously been fantastic. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind him shooting it a little more often.
Demozette reports the "no player in the nation shoots a better 3-point percentage" than Ricky Davison. No doubt Mr. Davison can shoot the ball.

But what about all the guys that are 100% from beyond the 3-point line..? Sure, they've only attempted a couple of 3's. But even in Arkansas 100% is more than 60.4%.

I guess that's why there is a minimum number required. Or not.
It is crazy but the kid must not get playing tire due to log jam in front of him and/or he can't do something the coaching staff is asking of him.

I was watching the last few minutes of the game on Trojan Tracker, and the time we had to call time out with 28 seconds remaining or something like that, was because Ricky was confused as to what he was supposed to do or where he was supposed to go on the play Steve had set up. Tucker and Vint mentioned it over the air at the time, so there are obviously some areas in which he's not yet mastered, plus the log jam in front of him. In addition, if you'll notice, at times he plays out of control.
That withstanding, he's shooting the ball at a fabulous clip, and has certainly been a good addition to our team. He's one of those Jucos who will be much better his second season. 04-cheers
Ricky should be a real force next year when he isn't having to learn our system and adjust to D1 level play.

Don't know that a 80 foot heave should be counted as a shot, but, if he made it, it would count as three points wouldn't it.
