Very interesting, have the tigers' ever finished this high before. When you also consider we might add another RB and DE we will probably go alittle higher. When you really think about it this is really meaning less when it come's to results on the field. I do think this show's that CLP can recruit(to Memphis)
1 UH 27 0 2 18 2.81 835
2 USM 26 0 2 19 2.88 629
3 UCF 23 0 2 13 2.74 536
4 Mem 26 0 1 13 2.58 511
5 Mar 27 0 1 8 2.37 315
6 Tulsa 25 0 0 17 2.68 309
7 SMU 26 0 0 16 2.62 297
8 ECU 20 0 0 10 2.50 238
9 UTEP 27 0 0 8 2.30 202
10 UAB 25 0 0 12 2.48 120
11 Rice 16 0 0 8 2.50 88
12 TU 24 0 0 3 2.13 75
Though 4th in C-USA may not seem all that impressive at first glance, we are actually 8th among all non-BCS schools.
Behind only 3 teams from the Mountain West, 3 from C-USA and 1 from the WAC. We are ahead of every Sunbelt and MAC school and 17 BCS schools.

32 Utah 22 0 4 16 3.09 1156
40 BYU 27 0 3 15 2.78 997
45 Houston 27 0 2 18 2.81 835
46 TCU 18 0 2 16 3.11 823
52 Fresno State 21 0 1 15 2.81 630
53 Southern Miss 26 0 2 19 2.88 629
56 UCF 23 0 2 13 2.74 536
57 Memphis 26 0 1 13 2.58 511

Great Job Coach Porter!
Awesome.....
Where is Boise St on this list??? After the year TCU had, you would think they would have had a better recruiting class. We are not far behind TCU!!!! Good things to come for Tiger nation.
The impressive thing is that Coach Porter had to scramble to recruit these guys. He hasn't had a full year or season to recruit his guys.

Boise State didn't have many scholies to give. They return most of their players

I forgot. They only lost 1 starter on offense. They better be top 5 to start the season. Fear the smurf turf!!!!
Boise State's recruiting classes are generally in the 50's and 60's so.....it is picking the right talent and then coaching them. My Son In Law played for the Texas Longhorns back in the 80's and he told me that they had one of the top recruiting classes in the country but......after the first year....half of that class was gone because they, failed or did not attend classes, dropped out of school or were.....JUST PLAIN CRAZY..according to him.

Great Job Coach Porter!

Now, that's some perspective. Wonder what he can do if we start getting winning seasons again.
This had almost nothing to do with winning seasons, since we have had a pretty decent tradition lately, but more to do with his only being the coach for less than three months and not having a full staff to help recruit in place.

The future has more to do with a young, energetic and hungry staff, a recruiting coordinator that is finally in place and a commitment by the university to this program.

This is a process that usually takes two to three years to build the proper relationships with the student-athletes. While we will always have one arm firmly tied behind our back until we get into a BcS conference, we can and likely will improve greatly over the next few years. It is great to be a Tiger!!!

Crouse was here last year. The weightroom/upgrades were scheduled and coming last year. You could have just stopped with the first sentence.
A ranking of 57 is just an excellent job for a man who was hired on November 30 and has been on the job all of 10 weeks.

It is just good to see the combination of a decent commitment to football for MEMPHIS along with an energized staff. I say "decent" because getting the upgrades scheduled is ONE thing and actually having them built is another. Looking forward to the IPF in a year or so...IF possible.

It will be very good to see how Porter and his staff recruit for 2011 with a full season to hit the high schools and talk with prospects.

I think they are returning 21 of 22 starters, so I doubt they recruited very many players.

That's what I heard when folks were talking about how bad their class was this year. They had very few seniors so their overall number was down.

And the players they signed were high quality....... Just not many of them.
