I was just thinking about this. What if the Grizzlies drafted one of the (likely) several players that will go pro from UK this year? Especially any of those that may have come here? Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins? What about Patterson? Would there be any backlash? Would any of those players be uncomfortable coming here?
Thoughts?

I'll take Wall or Cousins on the Grizzlies. Wall would do a real good job backing up Conley.
Cousins is a head case, and I think he would be bad for the chemistry we have, if we can keep most of our core for next season.
If the Grizzlies could get Wall, we're a title contender.
I wouldn't hold it against them. I hate UK and Cal just like everyone else on here...but the Grizzlies have to do what they need to do to win and put butts in seats, which go hand in hand. If they have a chance at Wall...they won't, but let's be hypothetical for a second...and don't pick him, their entire management structure should be executed.
Don't care. They're playing for the Grizzlies, not the Tigers. Darrell Arthur played for Kansas during the championship game and I can't wait to get him back. Besides, the Grizzlies won't get Wall or Cousins. More likely a Patterson or Bledsoe. Hopefully Bledsoe. That guy is underrated.
to me it seems that the griz and the tigers are two separate entities and if the best player available is Wall or Cousins the Griz take em.
NBA is a business and you acquire the best possible asset.

The grizzlies could draft the best woman's player and you lame asses need to buy tickets and support the team. The consquences of the NBA failing in Memphis would be catastrophic....AAA town at best...forever

The OP doesn't understand the dynamic that is the Grizzlies front office. While on the surface it would seam to be the worst move they could make, you discount the "not up to NBA standards yet" component. They would more likely draft Character from UTEP. This would also meet the requirement of ending something we were trying to continue.... The NCAA last year? Take DeMarre Carroll. The longest streak of conference wins? Take Character.

I'd take John Wall in a heart beat. But they can't get any of them with the rate they're going. :) Patterson, Wall, and Cousins are all top 15 picks this year with a weak draft class.
And btw, this isn't sorta tiger related. It is actually 2x NTR.

I support whomever puts on a shirt that has Memphis written on the front of it. At that moment they are one of us.
The Grizz, IMO, don't need much more young talent anyway unless its a bonafide star. as posted above our record won't be bad enough to get one anyway. I think at this point we need strong free agents.
I hated Thabeet and Carroll in college but I have no problems with either of them now. I'm sure I'd feel the same with any UK player that got drafted by the Grizz. I'd cheer for them as hard as I cheer for the Tigers.

Rather than not understanding the dynamic on the part of the OP, I think it is more of an over-assessment on your part.
John Wall is not a UK player.
UK is a John Wall player.
