Goldfinger

Someone needs to organize a Lane Kiffin/Dr. Frankenstein style riot at Stantons house tonight. That awful f*cker should be forced to pay for his sins.
Well, Gold, if you give me 7 hours I'll be there with you.
He should at least be held accountable for demoralizing the fan base and supporters of ETSU. I do not know if I would go that far but there needs to be some type of accounting.

Goldfinger

All you administration types - this is for you. If Bartow/Stanton/Mullins care about the fanbase and alumni at all, please invite them to come on here for an hour or so and answer questions from the fans. That's all I want - 1 hour of accountability.

I'm ETSU through and through, but after what we just saw at Belmont, and the cumulative effect of the decisions made the last 10 years or so, I need someone to explain to me why I shouldn't just take a break from being a fan until Stanton/Mullins/Bartow are gone.
I'd settle for them going on WXSM except I know that the sports talk show hosts would make excuses for them and they'd have seminar callers follow up any criticisms we'd make of them.

Hell, 2002 is a professional media relations guy speaking for his masters and he can't help but step in it everytime he comes on here. You think The Three Stooges would face us?

And I would like to apologize now to The Three Stooges- especially Larry Fine- for comparing them with Bartow, Mullins, and Stanton.

Ditto. And I also want them to publically state why ETSU is the only state university in the state of Tennesse that cannot "afford" 1AA football. They have yet to answer that question ane no one has forced them to. They should have to answer that question and questions of why the basketball program has been allowed to disintegrate.
Serious question. If everything was equal this year, and the contract of Coach Bartow was expiring this year, does anyone think that Mullins would NOT be preparing a contract extension right now? I believe he would and that is the scary part.
Oh, he definitely would.

Remember, Bartow was not given an extension after his first year when the Bucs went to the NCAAs, were picked to go to the Sweet 16, all of that.

He was given an extension when the team was 7-19.
I wish someone would go on the radio coaches show and really question Bartow about what would make him think that 2-3 zone would work against Belmont, and ask him why he is in love with it so.
Don't you think Bartow's answer about zone against Belmont (or anyone for that matter) would just be that it's not the scheme, it's just that our guys didn't execute the way they were supposed to. Which is delusional beyond belief to me; I mean, it's obvious they teach the kids to overplay the first swing of the ball, and so many times that's left guys wide open for 3's when teams swing the ball back to the other side. That's not execution, that's scheme, but again, I think he's delusional about the whole thing.

You know, too, we all gave Wagers a lot of credit for last year's defense. Is it time to re-think that given what we're seeing now? Or is the zone and style of playing it mandated by Bartow, and Wagers is just supposed to implement it and teach it to the kids? Any insiders know Wagers and what he thinks about this defense?
I just want Stanton/Mullins/Bartow to be honest with themselves, and honest with us for a change. If they truly are making the best decisions they can, then that shouldn't be hard. Show us the finances behind dropping football, let us ask questions. Tell us why you didn't know anything about not letting Mike Smith and the BFFF come to campus, when you're married to the person that the papers reported made the decision that they couldn't come. Let us ask you why you couldn't work something out with them. Defend the zone and why we give up so many open looks; let us know how you're going to fix it.

Anybody who has a job can relate to this. My clients ask me questions about why we're doing things a certain way, or how we get our answers, or how stuff works. It's their right - they're paying me to do my job. We're paying to see ETSU athletics, we're giving money to the university, we're taxpayers and ETSU has "State" right there in the name. To not acknowledge that people might not understand or might disagree with any of their decisions is delusional and just plain not fair to the school or its supporters.
Yes and still I want Dr. Stanton and Dave Mullins to publically give the reasons why ETSU is the only state university in Tennessee that cannot "afford" 1AA football. The people on the Sports Monster and the local papers should be asking that question until they answer it to our satisfaction. They should ask it every day if they have to but they could force answers out of these people and they are in position to do that. My opinion.
