Villanova 81
St. John's 71

The Johnnies hung tough, until they hit a cold stretch. Once that happened 'nova pulled away and that was all she wrote...

Georgetown 88
Rutgers 63

Dominating game by the Hoyas. Rutgers never really threatened...

WVU 71
Ohio State 65

This game was a tale of 2 halves. Ohio State had a great 1st half, and WVU had a great 2nd half. But WVU's great half was better than Ohio State's great half. The Mountaineers were down by 12 at the half. But Huggs worked his halftime magic in the locker room, and WVU stormed back to take the lead by the halfway point in the 2nd half...

Syracuse 76
Marquette 71

Marquette's comeback bid comes up short...

Notre Dame 87
DePaul 77

I'm surprised the game was this close. But I guess the emotion of their first conference win in a couple years was still around...

DePaul is playing much better ball under their interim coach. Hopefully he can improve the team and get the permanent gig. I hear he is from Chicago too. SU has to learn how to close out a game. They have to learn to hit their foul shots and not make silly turnovers and stay focused. Marquette was down by 15 points with 2:09 left in the game. At 1:54 they were down by only 6 points. This team made the same silly mistakes against WV that almost caused them to lose the doggon game.

Well, you got to admit WVU is perfecting the art of the comeback. We've had a couple of comebacks that came up just short. But we've also had several successful ones this season as well, including today's game with Ohio State...
Great win WV. Sadly I do think the better team won. 04-chairshot Good luck the rest of the season.
uconn is about to take down texas.......02-13-banana02-13-banana
I've been watching. This is a big win for the Huskies, and The BEast. It'll keep the Huskies in the polls too... 04-cheers

Added to WVU's OOC win over Ohio State, The BEast had a great day today...
agreed, this is one of the best weekends for be basketball that i can remember, cuse, gt, and nova were solid, our 6th ranked team took down number one texas, and wvu beat a very good ohio st team that will probably contend for the big 10 title. and to think espn gave us no chance of winning either game 01-wingedeagle

at least this puts to rest who the best conference in the nation is. of course if you think about it, lack of championships aside, we've been the best overall conference for the past 3-4 years and getting better every year.

Way to get that win over Ohio State. Great day for the BE. It will still be a war down the stretch for the BE. Nothing has been decided.
After today's games, the Big East has regained the #1 ranking in Conference RPI according to RealTimeRPI. Will be a dogfight with the Big 12 the rest of the season.

While there may still be doubt as to which is the #1 conference overall, there is no doubt about which TWO are the two best. ACC, SEC, and Big Ten fighting it out for distance third.

Will definitely help seeding again in the only season that truly matters - the Big Dance.

Cheers,
Neil
normally i'm used to espn taking potshots at the big east and downplaying the conference, but i almost threw up in my mouth, when the halftime guys said kansas st losing to unranked oklahoma st proves the big 12 is the best conference in the nation, wtf? 01-wingedeagle

WOW

What does it mean now that the BE's #6 place team took down the Big 12's 1st place team. I wonder what that proves to those homers.

haha, they need to get the espn ombudsmen on this, for whatever reason espn REALLY wants you to believe the big 12 is the best conference in the nation this year, little things like uconn beating texas must be such a nuisance for them. 03-lmfao

Not to nitpick too much, but UCONN currently sits in 8th place in the BE.

The GameDay guys are making up for it.

DukieV said we were flat out the best conference and that any of our top 6 teams - Nova, Cuse, Pitt, G'Town, WVU, or UConn could take out the top team from any other conference.

There was a little discussion about two BE teams possibly getting #1 seeds this year, but the talk quickly turned to which team was the best in the league.

Bilas and Hubert thought Nova and Syracuse were the top 2 teams, but that Nova was better. Digger only wanted to talk about the Hoyas.

Thank you. Your clarification makes my point even clearer. The 8th place BE team beats the 1st place Big 12 team. 04-rock

surprisingly, vitale has been on our side all year long, probably because the acc is basically irrelevant this year. i'd also argue that cinci/nd/ul would be upper tier teams in any other conference.

digger was just trying to do his part to hype up the cuse/georgetown matchup and we should we get some huge ratings for that game 04-bow

You guys can keep dreaming thinking UCONN is the 8th team in the BE. Calhoun's team always (only exception a couple of times) get better by middle of Feb/March. Talent wise, this team is near the top if not the top.

Outside some dumb losses, UCONN played the #1 strength of schedule in the country so far. This team will get better and finish strong.

I still think the announcers on all networks have no clue, unless the teams they've always covered are in the mix. All of 'em are full of it... 01-rivals

Amazing, and not at all surprising, that you crawl out of your hole once UConn starts winning games again, talking $hit like always. Funny, and again not surprising, how you ran and hid with your tail between your legs when your team was choking away games to effing Michigan. When the going gets tough for your team, you run away. When they start winning again, here you come, chest puffed out. Pu$$y.
