I'll be the first to admit that when the Grizz traded Pau, I thought they got completely hosed and Heisley had decided to hand the Championship to the Lakers, but sufficient time has passed to analyze the deal.

The Grizz got: Javaris Crittendon (non-factor), Aaron Mckie (non-factor), Kwame Brown (and his expiring contract if I remember correctly), a 2008 First Round pick (28th overall), which they turned into Darrell Arthur, a 2010 First Round pick, and what I thought was a total throw in ... Marc Gasol.

The Lakers got: Pau Gasol and a 2010 Second Round pick and arguably the NBA Championship in 2009.

Certainly well worth it for the Lakers, they got what they were looking for, a legit big man who does everything and plays with passion for a winner.

But now with time to look back, the Grizz did pretty well too. Darrell Arthur could still turn into something, I was surprised he slipped in that draft. They freed up some money to sign Zach Randolph later, and most importantly, they got Marc Gasol, who has been outstanding this year. Plus, they still have a 2010 first round pick yet to come. Plus, they got rid of Pau, who is much better suited to playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle in LA, than he was to trying to be a team leader on a losing team.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Pau Gasol. At the time, I would have given the trade a D grade, and that only because they got some picks; but now, the trade looks really good for the Grizz, even with Arthur hurt.

Of course, the Lakers got a Championship out of it, so they get an A+.

Really ... I think I have more subtle points in my post ... so technically I've not been poped ... plus, I did a better job of breaking things down, really I did, I mean just read my big time analysis, I should have my own freaking column.

I suppose I should keep up with the NTR board a bit better though :)

You should check out my glowing evisceration of Childers on the other post. Beautiful, I tell ya.
So many people are blinded by how bad the talent around Pau was when he was with the Grizz. When you're down 20, it's hard to look like a superstar, especially when you're a big and you don't have the ball in your hands. The Grizz were absolutely horrid in 07-08. It was Gasol and no one. Conley was abysmal as a rookie, Gay was still learning, the Grizz somehow still thought Mike Miller was going to be a player. They had role players trying to be scorers. It is a credit to Gasol that they even won 20 games.

Frankly, I was shocked the Lakers didn't beat the Celtics in 2008. I'll be shocked again if the Lakers don't win it all again this year.

Most don't realize how well respected Pau is as a player in the league. That said, it probably ended up being a win-win. The Grizz needed to rebuild, the Lakers needed a scorer and rebounder to complement the best player in the league, it didn't hurt that that guy happened to be one of the best players in the world.

Incubus, it's not even a challenge. Making you look like a moron is just about the easiest thing to do on the planet.

THE LAKERS NEEDED GASOL TO WIN THE TITLE
- 3 years prior to Gasol; Lakers miss playoffs, 1st round loss, 1st round loss
- With Gasol, NBA title, NBA finalist

Incubus Concludes that the Lakers didn't need Gasol

WHO IS A BETTER PLAYER?
- Thabeet averages 2.1 ppg
- Tyreke averages 20.9 ppg and will be ROY

Incubus concludes that Thabeet is better

WHO IS THE BETTER PLAYER?
- Journeyman Conley
- NBA ROY Tyreke

Incubus concludes that it's Conley

GRIZZLIES PREDICTION
- Incubus predicts 34 wins before the season starts

Incubus says that he predicted that the Grizzlies would be very good before the season started and insists that he is right even though 34 wins sucks.

You can't argue with Incubus. He is the most stupid human being on the planet.

Man, you two are acting like high schoolers who has the better looking girlfirend, or who believed in the Memphis Grizzlies first. Give it up, no one expected them to be playing so well as the time right now, including myself.

The reason why was because Bynum was hurt, forcing Pau to play the 5. Perkins was too physical for Pau.

Frankly, I think if the Celts had Garnett healthy last yr, they would have won the championship again. They would have whooped the Magic and the Cavs, and the championship game would have been epic with slight edge to the Celts.
