interest stat. She took 33 shots from the field! That's one main difference in philosophy from our women's team to our men's. Foley allows his shooters to shoot. And believe me, he will be able to recruit some good shooters because of what Chas is doing this year. On the other hand, our shooters normally play with one hand tied behind their back because we're always passing up a good shot to look for a better one.

My friend, the ex-coach said to me after watching the Trojans play one night, "why pass the ball five times to get a good shot, if you can get one after one pass". And this was not only a coach, but an outstanding college player in his day who competed against Bill Russell and K.C. Jones, among others. A good shot after one pass is not run and gun as some have suggested. I've seen us pass up shots over the years trying to get the ball inside, and I can't tell you how many times we've turned it over attempting to do that. I'm not saying that you don't go inside with the ball. The theory is that it goes inside and if the player doesn't have a good shot, it goes right back out. We've never mastered the "back out" portion of that play.

At least, according to Steve, we're trying to push the ball up the floor more for open shots. Maybe we've finally figured out that because of the inadequacy of our inside players, we struggle in the half court game and need more points in transition. It will be interesting to see how we do without Lionel tonight. We have traded a 1 point a game starter for a 6 point a game playerr (Ricky), so maybe that will help. If III can come off the bench (assuming he doesn't start) and give us some points, we might have a chance to win tonight. Will probably be decided in the last four minutes of the game once again.04-cheers

It will amaze me if Matt will be able to play effectively after undergoing surgery last week. Either he really is Superman or medicine has advanced a lot more than I thought it had. He has got to be sore, even with having had orthroscopic surgery.

He has to be careful. That soon after even a no-incision surgury is asking for a busted gut. But some ppl heal faster than others.

When I told my son he's supposed to play tonight, he said "I guess its possible, its just not a very good idea". He's only a med student, but he seems to have learned a ton at UAMS already. He certainly knows more than I do. Hopefull, Mouzy's doctor knows more than both of us put together.
