Case in point, Marquis Teague wants to play for Mick, not UC but for Mick. Both Louisville and Kentucky know this and they are using all the negativity that UC fans are spewing to help combat the recruiting job Mick has done with this kid.

I URGE all of you to stop spewing all the negative stuff that you spew after each game. I am all for free speech but you gotta know that what you post IS affecting recruiting and I encourage you to spread this around because this board is tame compared to some of the stuff I read other places.

Louisville just gave up a 17 pt lead to Nova and are now down 9. They are at home. The BEast is just really really good.

I want UC to win as much as anyone, but at the same time bringing in top level talent doesn't mean much if the coaches can't coach it... Unless Teague knows how to give 100% effort 100% of the time I have questions as to whether it is a good idea for him to go to UC.

I call it as I see it, and until I see a coach that knows how to get the full effort from his players on a consistent basis I don't see UC being any better.

That being said, as long as MC is UC's coach I hope he wins big.

So people posting on an internet message board are going to determine where a recruit goes to school? It's not about location, the coaches, facilities, the programs history.........it's about posts on a message board. Get real. Remember this garbage comes from the same clowns who intentionally put out false information about UC's hiring process for a football coach (ie Shanahan).

Great point.

It's the nature of college athletics. Have I been critical of Mick Cronin? Absolutely. Am I currently calling for his firing? Nope, he has until the end of the year to show me whether or not he's capable of moving this program forward. Personally, I think poor performance on the floor and his perceived job security (getting more uncertain by the day for those players planning to spend 4 years on campus) is more damaging to recruiting. There's only one way to fix it: win. Considering I still think UC makes the NCAA Tournament, I'm being pretty positive, at least compared to many here. :)

Recruits and players can read too. Dan Hoard speaks out and now Todd Cunningham speaks out.


Unfortunately....there's those in here that just don't get it.


I feel so bad for Cronin. The only true UC guy we've had since the 1980s too.

Excellent point. I guess they didn't care too much about recruits in that situation, they just wanted a "got ya!" moment. Maybe he's got a solid relationship with Mick, gets great intel and doesn't want to have to build one with a new coach. Hell, maybe he's lying about that Teague info so everyone quiets down, which isn't going to happen anyway if UC doesn't perform on the floor.

I was just checking out the thread over at bearcatnews. They really deleted posts that are deemed to be negative? Thank God for this far superior, well-managed board.

On a side note, a couple of my post praising Bob Huggins are rumored to have landed us Danny Fortson. You're welcome.

I actually thought about that, myself... but, if there's even a POSSIBILTY that it holds water, I'd rather err on the side of constructive criticism.

It's not far-fetched anyway... plenty of recruits read the net.

A lot of us are being constructive... a lot of us aren't.

UC message boards are incredibly inactive compared to many many high major programs. FWIW, if Todd Cunningham tells me to jump, I duck, if says the sky is falling I am going to the beach, if he tells me to buy abc stock, I buy xyz. Cunningham is so unethical and pathetic he deserves the support he gets at his so called message board.

When Todd first came to this board his screen name was, honest to God, Big10Todd. Should tell you something.

I only post in two places, here and the Big East board. That is it. I don't go to other boards on the norm, even to check out MuskieMadness. However, I presume that this board is no better, no worse than the denizens of other boards. Sometimes the posters on this board are vicious, like the anti-Mick thread, or the Rath attack on Vaughn. However, that is not the norm.

Usually, this is just an information exchange with cursory and sundry zingers passed back and forth. Mostly in fun, sometimes deadly. It seems to me right now the person being zinged the most is Griff, but that just might be jaded.

Anyway, I am like SFBCat. Whatever Todd says, I do the exact opposite. Just another in a long line of POS.

My guess is that recruits are FAR more influenced by an abundance of shoe money than they are by some old farts on a message board.

I think losing basketball games hurts recruiting.

I hope Teague was watching the effort in UL tonight. Brutal.

Blow a 17 point lead at home and lose by 8? They were 19-62 from the field and 7-34 from beyond the arc. Toss in 21 TO, 33 fouls, and Samuels only attempts 4 shots.

Louisville sucks this year, but there is a huge difference in the situation there and what is going on here. Louisville has been to the Elite 8 the past two years straight, UC has done nothing. They should have been an NCAA team last year, but it didn't happen thanks to the typical end of the year tank job. We haven't won a single game in the Big East tournament. Not one.

If you compare coaches, well, that isn't even close. Pitino has over 550 wins, a national title, and been to 5 final fours. Only coach in history to take 3 different schools to a final four. You don't get a resume like that because you suck at your job.

UC basketball is awesome and Mick is a great coach.

BTW: Sosa is a punk. So is Siva. Love that he flashed a quick Latin Kings sign to go with the crown tatoo.

Weekend game at noon on the road, when is the last time we won one of those?

I think not making the ncaa for four years running hurts recruiting and not being in the Top 25 also hurts recruiting.

Having said that, we actually cracked the top 25 earlier this year so if we can string together some wins who knows.
