While EMU gets little buzz re recruiting, here are three articles about CMU from the Detroit Free Press.

CMU commits remain solid amid Butch Jones departure
Butch Jones' abrupt departure from Mt. Pleasant has put the verbal commitments for Central Michigan's 2010 class in a strange situation. Having committed to Jones and his coaching staff at CMU, they are now put in the unenviable position of not knowing who will be the next coach at Central Michigan. And other schools know that, so they are contacting CMU's commitments in hopes of getting back in the picture. For many, that is not a factor and they remain solid in their commitment to Central Michigan.

Here's one about recruiting rankings:

Lastly the importance CMU places on instate recruiting:

Note the instate recruiting clause in the head coach contract.
And I'll add one for Western:

Compare these to the EMU article Steve posted.
Why all this talk about CMU on the EMU board?
cmu's program is a benchmark for english and emu. We have a ways to go!
ENGLISH'S RECRUITING - WHY NO MICHGAN PLAYERS? YOU WONDER ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH MICHIGAN COACHES.
Superfan:

We have discussed the CMU coaching vacancy in a different thread. We're MAC fans so we are curious about the competition. Two points:

I like to see how successful programs are run. What are they doing that EMU is not doing or could do better.

I like to compare the information available and what the media are saying. CMU lost its coach and yet gets positive vibes on recruiting. WMU gets positive press. EMU well.... is all a conspiracy?

English could have told the New reporter about the Louisville transfer, Axon or Moffett. He could have mentioned Ryan Williams who may have enrolled in January or any JUCOs already enrolled. But he didn't and I wonder why.

Maybe RE wasn't even asked about specific players or maybe he did talk about them but it didn't make the report. Who knows.

"We need linemen on both sides of the ball," he said. "We're looking for big, inside linebackers, too."

That is his only quote.
Well I know sometimes the press doesn't play fair. I would have thought the News would have let English or some at the Sports Information desk review the article or have the courtesy prior to publishing. Maybe not.
