I went on The Weather Channel's website to see the temperature for Memphis and what ended up catching my eye was the extreme temperatures in the northern plains region. Holy crap is it cold there! They're expecting -33 degrees in Bismarck on Friday for the low.
Most of my life has been about adaption. They'll be fine.

Let's hope so.
I was in Bismarck 15 years ago when the temp was -30 and the wind chill was -60. Business as usual. Although it was odd to see most of the cars riding around town with a big pc of cardboard attached to the grill. I asked why and the answer was to keep the radiator from freezing.

Adapt and move along.
Can you imagine what peoples utilities run up there during the winter?
20 below keeps out the riff raff.

But liquor doesn't freeze. I once hauled a$$ across the Canada border on a half gallon of cheap vodka.
I would rather be in jail than up there. If I had to live there, I would hibernate like a bear all winter with some books, some coffee and some wine and cheese. Maybe a little chili, too. And a laptop. And pray the power didn't fail.

There's a reason my ancestors didn't migrate across the top of the country. Their blood was obviously too thin, and they were too smart.

I heard the famous saying is that most people who live in any area is adapt or die, and that is what people in a hard environment like that have learned to do.
