Folks that work outside to earn a living learn to deal with weather extremes. However, the tolerance level is different for different parts of the country. It has reached a point in the Memphis area that is past absurd. We are now officially in a weather pattern called 'Stupid Cold'. If you hear this expression, you now know what it means.

It is cold, but for a week or two it is not that bad to me. Imagine having cold for seven or even months during the year, I could not take that in my humble opinion.

Having lived in Chicago, where it gets pretty damn cold, you just adjust. The quality of winter clothing that you can buy there is also beyond anything you can buy in Memphis. I have snow gear (lightweight pants and jacket) that I would wear there to go sledding in sub zero wind chills and single digit temps that I would sweat in....with only one layer of clothing.
Spring summer and fall were beautiful. There is your trade off. Rarely the sweltering heat like we get down here. You can always put on a heavier coat, but you can only take off so much clothing.

It was cold yesterday, it is cold today and it will be cold tomorrow. That's pretty stable. When it's 20 one day and 98 the next, I'll start to worry.
