He was talkin about lower seed teams that one should be vary of... he mentioned that UConn should be vary of their second round opponent UAB coz they only have one true ball handler ... Marcus Williams.. and since we press a lot we could create lots of problems.... seems like he has already penciled us winnin against UK... 04-rock

Man that fact right there makes me so happy. If we can pressure him into mistakes things should be good. 02-13-banana
My eyes lit up when I read that line, too.

Suddenly, they don't look quite so much like Darth Vader.
Don't let 'em fool ya. UCONN would have to be in the tank for us to have more than a 10% chance against them
Their biggest strength matches up to our weakness, big inside play. That does not mean we couldn't drop them... but it makes it very hard. I saw that feature on ESPN and actually he was saying that UConn's coach was saying that our style worried them. That's actually bad... once again, we've done the upset thing often enough that folks are not going to overlook us.

I liked it better when we were underrated, at least in the NCAAs.

What were the odds 2 years ago?

Uconn is one great BB team. They are however not unbeatable. We have several players who have experienced all the pressure, and playing against teams with great names on both sides of their shirts.

These UAB players may get beat badly in the first round, or loss big to Uconn, but they will not be in awe of anybody, and they will play hard....REAL hard. Therefore, whatever the outcome, I'll take it, and be proud of these Blazers 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock

"[The lack of a second point guard] is clearly our Achilles' heel on this team," Calhoun said. "When Marcus wasn't distributing the ball as well [like in the overtime loss to Syracuse on Thursday in New York], we struggle. There is no more important player in the tournament."

Calhoun has studied the bracket and knows if the Huskies face UAB and its pressure defense in the second round, he'll need more ballhandlers. The Sweet 16 could have another up-tempo team like Washington or Illinois, which explains why Calhoun said the Huskies started getting Austrie and Garrison ready during Sunday's practice.

The assumption is that the Huskies are loaded at every position. They are -- except for the point. Brown and Anderson can rotate at shooting guard. Rudy Gay, whom Calhoun has been all over at times for erratic play, works in with those two. The Huskies also have a glut of interior players in Josh Boone, Hilton Armstrong, Jeff Adrien and Ed Nelson.

Think about the depth there -- the scoring, the shot-blocking, the offensive rebounding and the overall size.

Still, for Calhoun, it all comes back to Williams.

"No one is as close to being [as] important as Marcus," Calhoun said. "If we had another [point guard], we'd be unstoppable. That's why we've got to get more out of Craig and Rob. No one is as important as Marcus."

Yeah, please put in those kids you're trying to get up to speed as point guards in under a week, Coach. Please. If he does that, Squeaky's going to need a bib to keep the drool off the floor.
They can lob in to the trees full court then just run up and start their set.

They are big, but they can be slow.

It sets up nicely for us since they don't know whom they will play until late Friday night, basically only one day to finalize practice schemes.
UConn's big, but damned athletic. I don't think "slow" was a word I'd be looking for to describe them unless they deliberately go halfcourt. They're more than able to run. The question is can they run with our guys dogging their steps?
I am not going to kid you here, that game scares the hell out of me. but I'll worry about that game on saturday after Kentucky and Ashley Judd head back to Eastern KY and their coal mines
