I was checking back on Brandon Nichols, who played here a few seasons ago. His last season, which I think was his Sophomore year, he averaged 9.5 minutes a game, shot 50% from the floor, and averaged 1.1 rebounds a game. His stats, based upon his minutes, were as good or better than Byron Ray, who played a lot of minutes. Defensively he probably wasn't great, but isn't it possible in one or two more years, at 6'8" tall, he might have improved enough to really help us. I think, sometimes, we give up on players too soon, or they give up on us because we aren't able to utilize them in the most efficient manner. I'm not saying he would be great, but would probably be as good or better than any big man we have right now.03-hissyfit
Amen to that, we've got to keep our freshman and develop them instead of rebuilding every year with jucos. Thats my one issue with Steve, he's not had a four year player in his career here.
He's had lots of freshman. Its just not many finish here.
Thats been the problem, who was it that said the best thing about freshman is they become sophomores.....then jrs....... then srs. We haven't been getting those last two years where we should really reap the benefits of our coaching labors. Kelson is a prime example, he's a solid contributor as a 3rd year sophmore, if he stays, he should be an integral part the next 2 years. Hardman, Eason, Willis all the way back to Daron Hoges . 5th year srs have been very good for our program.
