He got a raise but we don't know the details yet. Calhoun is as tough as they come, but I really really hope his health will hold up. He is the face of the UCONN and face of the Big East in many ways. I hope he can coach until he is 80. JoePa is doing it so can Calhoun. To me he is WAY more valuable to Calipari.

Let's hope we can land Brandon Knight and/or Roscoe Smith with this news.

Just saw it on ESPN. He will be 72 when the contract runs out. He is going to be the BE BB version of JoPa and Bowden. Hope he keeps up the GREAT WORK he is doing at UConn.

Don't forget that coach up at Syracuse. He may outlast everyone.

Met Calhoun once too. He is a good guy with that thick accent.

Who do you think I like in the USC game? UCONN of course LOL. I think we can handle those South Carolina DL. Our OL will dominate by the 4th quarter.

Jimmy B and Jimmy C are similar in many ways. This is why Cuse, UCONN and GTOWN are teams that have defined BE in many ways. It would suck if Cuse ever leave the Big East.

The numbers have not been released but the Women's coach for basketball got $1.6 million a year for 5 years for a total of $8 million.
I would guess that Calhoun would get well over $2 million a season as he brings in a lot more to the university than the women's basketball team.

This is why I said before that UCONN won't have any problem affording a top end football coach. Edsall should keep that in mind. If he can bring a BCS bowl victory back to Storrs he will get paid plenty.

Would UCONN football be able to generate as much income to pay for top flight coach? It looks like average coaches are making $1.5 million to $2 million. Would all of that money come from the school or would some of it come from shoe and apparel company?

Football is quietly generating good chunk of income for UCONN. UCONN can afford to pay $3M for a football coach if needed. I suspect the money will come from a combination of scool, shoe company, apparel company and boosters. Anyway, I am glad Calhoun and Geno are getting paid because they both deserve it.
