Turner Gill will be named the new coach at Kansas according to ESPN.
Wonder where Butch Jones of CMU is going? Cinci or Marshall?
hopefully somewhere im sick of seeing CMU own the MAC...I would prefer Cinci
It's really amazing that CMU has done this well. Lefevour has been the biggest reason, but the state of Michigan had not had much talent in football for quite awhile. That means they are going outside the state and convincing players to come to Mt.Pleasant for 4-5 years to play football. Why would they do that? It's a nice campus, but it's also in the middle of nowhere. With the new facilities, Toledo should be able to have it's way with most recruits - the issue is whether we make the right decisions on who we offer. That can be a crapshoot, but I like the fact that we are getting good student-athletes. We need guys who are going to be around for the full ride. That alone will make us better - and we won't lose scholarships.
Coach Kelly has done a great job with his football programs during and after his involvement. Both Grand Valley State and CMU continue to be outstanding progams - GVSU lost the Divi II Championship 30-23 yesterday after being down 21-0 at the half.

UC should continue to be a force in the Big East if the past holds.

I've thought Coach Kelly was looking to rise up the coaching ranks as fast as possible. Mission accomplished. What is remarkable, IMO, is that the quality of his former teams remain at a high level.

The ND fans I know are happy to have him.
The Notre Dame HC job has been a dead end for many grear coaches over the past few decades. Good luck to Kelly - he is going to need it.

I looked at that map on letsgorockets and Toledo is really recruiting the immediate area. Ohio especially.
What about Pennsylvania and Florida and California?
Have we cut our recruiting budget so the coaches are only permitted to recruit within driving distance or something?

He could stink at ND and with his past successes land a big job elsewhere after another failed attempt to revive the Notre Dame flailing fortunes.

All the while collecting a huge paycheck.

It would be better for other teams to get better than for CMU to get worse. It was much more rewarding beating Marshall with Pruett than it would've been without.
