Fear --

You can say that again. Missing FTs and sloppy turnovers have been a ongoing problem with this group. Our defensive awareness is also suspect. They seem like they are playing hard but they are fighting it and it never looks easy. As the clock starts to wind down guys start to get unnerved. We have not had a new leader emerge and it really shows. Some of the early games were affected by injuries, but now we seem to have a big confidence issue.

We just don't play smart basketball and that used to be one of our hallmarks.

Crazy thing is that we have rebounded ok so far this year and most Jays fans thought that would be our achillies. It has just been everything else.

GMason was taking it hard to the hole for most of the game, so they got to the line. Some are saying we got jobbed on some blocking calls, perhaps, but we had plenty of opportunities to close it out. You know it is a bad day when Mr. Vanilla gets a T. His story is that he swung his arms after the last foul call, supposedly no cursing. I don't know what happened but seems like a bad omen if Altman is now getting T'd up to end games. That probably isn't going to help the mojo.

I just want a few decent Ws at this point and then hope we can challenge for something in the Valley. It could get really rough if the team doesn't bounce back from a horrible noncon.
Sounds like last year's Shocker team with regard to missed FTs and sloppy turnovers. Of course, Murry still provided us with some late-game heroics anyway.

Dana's T sounds an awful lot like the one that got Marshall ejected from the InSU game in St. Louis two season's ago - for "demonstration".

Valley weekly recap, if you notice the Creighton/George Mason write up concerning the technical foul late in the game.

Quote:Hancock would drive to the basket and be fouled with 31.2 seconds left. He sank both shots to get Mason within one point, 71-70. Cavel Witter made the second free throw with 27.9 seconds left as CU went ahead 72-70.

After Mason called its final timeout, Long would drive and Carter would be called for a blocking foul with 18.0 seconds left that led to Brad Gaston calling a technical foul on the Bluejay bench. Hancock hit both free throws awarded from the technical foul the line to tie the score, then Long made his second at the line to give Mason a one-point lead. A Bluejay turnover led to a breakaway dunk from Hancock with 2.3 seconds left.
