Irish to invade Ohio

With the inroads he made at Cincinnati, expect to see more Ohio athletes at Notre Dame under Brian Kelly. [from Scout recruiting article]
Certainly it's a valid concern but I have to say, during this entire saga, my most pressing concern was, if we lost Kelly, we absolutely had to retain Kerry Coombs. For those not familiar, he's the former Colerain HS Head Coach who was hired during BK's first year and is currently the DBs coach. He's absolutely crucial to staying active in the Cincy area, and I am totally positive he'll be saying. Can't provide a link or anything definitive, but at this point, I'm 100% certain he's staying.

So certainly BK will be getting some guys down here, but we're not going away in the Cincy recruiting department.
I certainly hope so, or Kelly leaving was only the beginning. This situation could continue to unfold tragically.

How many BCS-caliber fb players does OH produce annually? Because OH ST is going to get their's, we know that. W/ Kelly and ND adding pressure, as well as others circling, things could get tight if UC doesn't stay strong in their own city.

UL fans know, Ukay has made serious inroads into L'ville under the inept watch of he who shall not be named. Strong is going to have alot of work to do to minimize that in future...
While I have a great deal of respect for what Kelly accomplished at UC, I hardly think the Irish are going to seriously impact the Bearcats' recruiting in Ohio.

They might impact (and even this is a stretch) tOSU's or Michigan's recruiting, but not so much Cincinnati's. Unless, of course, I was totally unaware of Kelly fighting it out with Weis for recruits over the past few years.

Kelly has an eye for undervalued football talent, but once you go to a program like the Irish, I think we'll see how he recruits change. The recruits he has gotten for Cincinnati over the past few years he most likely wouldn't take at ND even if he liked them. Why? Because the Meyers, the RichRods, the Tressels, etc. would use that against him when recruiting the four and five star recruits. And the recruiting services, unless they artificially inflate all of them, would have his classes not be Top 25 type classes.

I can hear the Irish zealots now, "Told you. Mid-major coach, mid-major recruits!" 03-melodramatic

Cheers,
Neil

Where ever Kelly chooses to recruit he best be looking for speed/quickness.
That's where ND has come up short in recent years.
I would revise that and say ND will recruit Michigan, Ohio and Indiana more than the previous coaching staff did.

He is certainly going to recruit more in Ohio as that is where he has a lot of connections with the high school coaches there. I think he probably will also recruit a lot in Michigan. I think he is going to go after the top recruits in Ohio and give Ohio State a run for their money. It would be a tough decision if an Ohio kid is offered a scholarship at Notre Dame and Ohio State. Its clear that Notre Dame is better academically (look it up on the US News rating) than Ohio State so he will have an advantage in being able to give the players a better "name" degree.

I agree. I don't see how this affects UC.
