If you were planning on walking up and getting tickets, think again. This may be a good thread for people who are looking for tickets. If you are a season ticket holder and aren't going, maybe you could work with someone who needs them.
The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that the special “Back the Brooks” men’s basketball game set for Thursday night in Brooks Gym is a sellout. Tipoff against North Georgia is set for 7 p.m.

“The response to our Back to Brooks game has been amazing,” said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins. “With nearly 2,000 season ticket holders and 600 student seats – and a good response from the general public – we are looking forward to a packed house as we turn back the clock Thursday night.”

While tickets to the general public are no longer available, there will be 600 seats open for ETSU students on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, a special pregame tailgate is planned for the first 300 students outside of Brooks Gym at 5:30 p.m., with hamburgers, hot dogs and Ci Ci’s Pizza on the menu.

With the ETSU men wearing special throwback uniforms from the 1968 season, there will be a costume contest for fans wishing to wear their best 1960s attire. A $100 Best Buy gift certificate will go to the winner.

In addition, former ETSU standout Tom Chilton, who gave up his retired No. 42 jersey to All Atlantic Sun Conference pick Kevin Tiggs during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, will have his number re-retired during halftime of Thursday’s game.
I guarantee you that a packed house at Brooks will be a much better atmosphere than the dome. I never understood why colleges build these monstrous arenas only to have them half empty (I know yours was built for football). Give me a small packed stadium any day. I was watching the Gonzaga/Wake Forest game Saturday on ESPN2 and Gonzaga's brand new stadium only seats 6000 fans. I think that is awesome. I bet that place goes nuts, and it makes the ticket that much more valuable to the fan base. I imagine that what you lose in volume you can make up in loyalty and ticket prices.

Great idea by ETSU to have a game in the old arena...If Kennesaw's old gym wasn't so terrible that might be a good idea for us.
Kennesaw has a small, empty arena. Does that count?
Are they going to be auctioning off the jerseys after the game? I thought I read somewhere awhile ago that they were going to do that, and if so will the auction be online?
KB, I agree. ETSU-07 our run as a true D-1 team has just started! I have a feeling we will start putting more butts in seats as the season moves on. We shall see though. Next years Georgia Tech game will be our first sell out. Mark it down! I think ETSU has a great idea here.

Yeah, but in a few years we will also have a football team...instead of an ancient indoor football arena that someone threw some wood down in the middle of and called a basketball court. I'll take our convocation center over your monstrosity any day of the week.
I can imagine going to the ETSU/Mountain States Health Alliance Athletic Center (lol) to watch a basketball game is similar to attending games in the Georgia Dome and I can't stand those games! I guess thats why the Hawks play in the smaller Phillips Arena. Domes just arent built for anything but football and monster trucks ha
Get a football team first before you start boasting about it. It's not a sure thing yet.

Man, the Georgia Dome is so big, it's too big for football. The distance from the stands to the sideline is huge. I think it was designed for war games or monster trucks. I can't imagine a basketball game in there.
Georgia Dome is the best facility I've ever been in for football.

And I've been to a lot.
Me and a buddy, both students, are going to try to make the game. What time do you think we need to get there in order to get a seat?

It's lousy for Basketball. I went to the Final Four there in 2007 and ended up watching the final on Monday night from my hotel room.

Really? Where did you sit at when you were there?

I don't think you need to worry about it. There will NOT be 600 student tickets taken. They will, however, begin selling them to walk-ups at some point. The 600-student seats thing smacks of a marketing ploy to get a quicker sellout, imo.

Yes, that's how much I distrust the ETSU marketing people......
Now why on earth would there be any mistrust there.....
If there aren't 600 students interested in Buc basketball, we should discontinue athletics.
