Because I do not have a life ;-), I'll be paying close attention to these games tonight. Will the new look Belmont squad be as promising as the class with Hare et al.? Is James Florence a player who only puts up gaudy numbers, or is he a leader, a winner? Will Gold's David Lipscomb, with their new look headbands, be a force with the hot-headed big-fella down low? I'm also interested in seeing Cummings play for KSU. He's a promising freshman.
Don't feel bad, Faithful.

Nobody in Johnson City has a life.

I might watch Belmont and KSU....I think I pretty much know what to expect from both DAVID lipscomb and Mercer.
We'll see if Mercer can handle Hodzic, and Kennesaw can handle Saunders. My bet is neither one will. Belmont surely wins, but the other one is a toss-up.

Goldfinger

Well I want to watch Belmont/Kennesaw in order to get a look at KSU's players before they leave in January for the NBA

Goldfinger

Watching KSU and Belmont...I feel good about where we are compared to both of them

Goldfinger

Belmont is smarter than KSU....imagine that

How is Belmont's "all world" new PG from Alabama?

Goldfinger

I'm not sure what his name is....there's a guy named Clark who is pretty good
So KSU scored 5 points in the last 30 seconds to force overtime? Wow.

Goldfinger

KSU has more talent than Belmont...Belmont is just smarter and better coached.
Mercer loses to David Lipscomb tonight, 98-89. What shocked me the most about DLU was their lack of characteristically tough 'D'. The Slater kid is a decent PG for DLU, but will not be able to stay in front of Cooley. And if Tubbs can score 20+ against SEC guards, he'll have a field day against them.

As for Mercer, I was really expecting more of them with 2 senior standouts. Giving up 100 pts. is sorry against an average offense--did they play any 'D' at all? Mercer is a 2-man team with Florence and Emerson. Kusner (sp?) is a decent scorer and 3-pt specialist, but beyond that, they're limited. This may be premature, but I sense that MU will once again underachieve.

I agree about coaching. We have a lot of talent on our team and it kills me to see these types of games. However, it is still early in the season and we have four underclassmen seeing tons of time. Matt Herramb is playing his first season here as well. We shall see where we end up.

Cummings (RF) had 32 points and 11 rebounds tonight. Talent kept us in this one.

I just don't think Mercer has it behind they eyes. They've never convinced me otherwise.
Clark from Belmont is Ian Clark, the kid from Memphis. He's a 'Justin Hare' protege, I think. Surprising that had to go to OT to beat Kennesaw. For Mercer, this always seems to be their best time of year - that was true under Slonaker (who some may remember interviewed here), and it seems to be true under the new coach. They played GA Tech really tough apparently just last week.

Goldfinger

Belmont is taking it to Mercer at the moment. Mercer is what they always are. We'll win the league this year if properly develop.
Belmont beats Mercer in OT and KSU beat Lipscomb.
Really wish we could have that Belmont game back. But that is Belmont for you. They are well coached, and have very talented players. Just because they might not look in an airport, doesn't mean those guys can't play. They do certain things well, and they don't go outside their limitations. This is going to be a tight year in the conference.
