DENTON, Texas (11/30/09) - North Texas head coach Johnny Jones has officially announced the signings of home-and-home basketball series with Texas Tech and LSU beginning in the 2010-11 season.

The Mean Green, winners of at least 20 games in each of the last three seasons, will host Texas Tech on Nov. 16, 2010 before returning to Lubbock in 2011-12. North Texas will play at LSU on Dec. 22, 2010, and will host the Tigers on Dec. 22, 2011.

"We are excited about the prospects of our future schedule, because it will give us an opportunity to play two teams with great basketball tradition," Jones said. "Having the opportunity to play them in a home-and-home schedule will be a great challenge for our players, but it's one they embrace and look forward to."

Jones, nicknamed "The Bullet" during his playing days at LSU, played point guard for the Tigers from 1981-84. He led LSU to a Final Four appearance in 1981. Jones later coached at LSU from 1984-1997, leaving the program as the associate head coach with nine NCAA Tournament appearances, two SEC titles and another Final Four on his resume.

North Texas has never faced LSU, while the Red Raiders hold a 2-1 advantage over NT at the Super Pit. The series with Texas Tech began in 1946 with three straight Mean Green wins. North Texas is 5-8 all-time against Texas Tech, but the programs haven't met since 1999.
