I guess I need to point out sarcasm. Apparently you haven't followed the meltdown at bsufans.com.

Hence the inclusion of the word 'can/could' in my post.

If we win out, maybe. I think you're overrating the job Kill has done. He's 12-10 in less than 2 years, nothing to write home about. We're only 6-3 right now because we've played the worst the MAC has to offer the last 3 weeks. We make it 4 tomorrow night.

Illinois has already announced that Zook is coming back in 2010.
Gotta go with Amstutz being gone. I mean, this could be the 4th straight losing season for Toledo. We've got a ton of talent, more talent than anyone else in the MAC.......it's gotta be Amstutz's coaching.

He would be a better candidate than Jones or Golden for either spot.

UC would want Jones over Gill as he too runs the spread and was a seamless replacement for Kelly at CMU. Not sure Jones would take that job though.

UC might take a good look at Jones.

Lets see..... UC - in the Big East, located in a talent rich football state in a fairly large city, pays about $1 mil. a year OR....CMU in the MAC, located in up in the middle of nowhere in a state without alot of H.S. football talent, pays about $300k.

[b]Sure - Jones would rather stay in MT. Pleasant. Sure03-drunk

Oh yeah... like Cincinnati is some kind of great destination in and of its self... 01-wingedeagle

I don't hear too many coaches saying... "if only I could go to Cincinnati." 03-lmfao

Listen. I've been to both Cincinnati and Mt. Pleasant. There is absolutely no comparison between the 2 places. You CMU guys are obviously delusional.

Frankly, there isn't a coach (except maybe Solich) in the MAC that wouldn't jump at the chance of taking over ANY Big East football program. They all double to triple their salary, can pay assistants enough to stick around, the program gets BSC money, etc., etc.

It is a rare situation for a coach to stay at a MAC school over a BE school, period..... and I would bet that Butch Jones isn't one of those rare situations.

Go right ahead.......keep thinking that all coaches want to be in Mt. Pleasant forever.

BTW, your last coach obviously made the decision that Cincy was a more desirable destination than Mt. Pleasant.
Crebman - spot on. If a Big Least school comes knocking, any MAC coach - including Golden - will listen. No doubt about it.

NIU05 - here's a quote from you, emphasis mine ...

Quote:Golden, Gill, Jones candidates to leave. Golden is actively looking to move up.

Can you attribute that to someone or is that just your speculation. I haven't heard or ready anything to that effect.
Quote:BTW, your last coach obviously made the decision that Cincy was a more desirable destination than Mt. Pleasant.

That could be a pretty good argument for not going to Cinci.
Might he leave? Sure. Depends on what's best for himself and his family. The only argument I see being made here by CMU fans is that Cincinnati would not be Butch's dream job. Butch was a natural choice to replace Kelly at CMU, because he coached under Kelly at CMU and also at WVU under Rodriguez. That made him as much of an expert on the spread as anyone. It doesn't mean, though, that Butch would want to be BK's shadow again.

I'll give you that. If Kelly were to leave I'm not even saying that Jones would be on their list or visa versa. However, unfortunately, I think that almost all MAC coaches, if they are good and successful, are only rented by us for a relatively short time. Sadly the fate of Non-BCS instutitions.

He took his name out of consideration for those jobs.

I don't recall him being offered those jobs. I can see him turning down Syracuse (considering Syarcuse is a graveyard for coaches) for Temple but I cannot believe he would f-ing turn down the UCLA job for a MAC position if he *really* believed he had a shot.

No one in creation would turn down $1.25 mil and stay with his $575,000 job. That is an endearing thought, though.

The chancellor or prez at UCLA is a friend who knew him from his Virginia days. Was a courtesy interview to get his name out there.
BC and Syracuse he was not even considered.

Actually I think Temple will be able to put forth a pretty competitive offer for Golden.

Its not like Ball State where you go out and schedule a 1 for 1 with a BCS school. That would make any coach want to leave for a second tier Mountain West job.
