Guys, everyone has a bad game. We lost to a team that is playing good basketball. At least this team was not UCF, Rice, or Tulsa. I think if we see these fellows again down the road, then we will see a different outcome. We all know we are better than what we played tonight. So cheer up.

Now for discussion.

Do we want UTEP to lose to Memphis or Memphis to lose to UTEP?

Points:

Memphis wins out until they come to Bartow then we have a really high ranked team with the longest winning streak on nationally television.

UTEP wins puts memphis at one loss in conference play and we could finish in second or first if UTEP loses again.

Hopefully, UTEP will lose two and I hope memphis loses at least two games with one being the game at Bartow. If this happens and we win out, then we win the regular season championship.

Thoughts?
yea you guys just had a really bad one, Ok I am done with the knocking
anyhow playing at Memphis is gonna be oh so tough especially after i'm sure the tiger fans saw what the miners fans are like so they are surely gonna reek havok!!! I think you guys have a real good shot at Memphis at home, like I said in another post we all know UAB is a good team tonight just wasn't that night so goodluck with the rest of your games!

Go CUSA
In the best of worlds, Memphis would lose to Houston, UTEP, and UAB. That gives the best opportunity for multiple CUSA teams to go dancing. Memphis would be going dancing even with losses to Houston, UTEP, and UAB, while a win over Memphis helps boost the resumes of all three of us. It's HIGHLY unlikely 4 teams would be able to make it, but we just MIGHT be able to squeeze 3 in...but it'll be a REAL squeeze.

I like that scenario.

Memphis fans are horrible when it comes to making noise. They got to many "fans" with money that sits next to the court that only sit on their hands. They might get excited for a big dunk or something like that. They will not be rowdy like the crowd seemed at UTEP. When they came down last season Bartow was deafening and the student section was all over their bench. When we played Memphis this year, they were rather quiet and only got loud towards the end of the game. I also attended our game their last season and I know from experience that the atmosphere is not that loud.
well who knows how post play will turn out! I just hope that memphis, uab, utep, and houston get some post play nit or ncaa

I think all four will see some sort of post-season.
I really really REALLY don't see UTEP beating memphis... 1 million times less than I saw them beating us tonight
A bad game is losing to a team you should beat by ten. Embarrassing game is the better way of putting the UTEP game. I mean did Coach A just give the team off since the game on Saturday. We didn't even show up.

see this is a graceful winner... memphis posters you could learn something from this post right here, instead of him sayign Tofi this and Williams that he gets past it and wishes us well. Shy, way to be human.

Nevermind the multitudes of Memphis fans who already know plenty about winning gracefully and those on the board who have nothing but nice things to say about our oponents after our games...

Comments like the one above may be a reason why our nicer fans shouldn't even bother. They get lumped in with the negative anyway so they might as well get their moneys worth.

Big difference is there isn't the constant UTEP-bashing posts here. UAB and Memphis are rivals and have been for some time now. UTEP-UAB are not.

You are quite correct. There are plenty of classy, sportsmanlike fans of every single school (I'll bet if you look hard enough, you'd even find an alright Louisville fan ;-) ) and it's equally true that each school has its share of yo-yos. Fact is, we're all occasionally guilty of painting with a broad brush. I have taken several shots at other schools' fans, but I think they've been defensive in nature, whereas there are plenty who just want to piss on the fire.

I hope my interactions with good fans are as positive as my interactions with the yo-yos are negative.

Ok now you are just flat out lying.
Everybody has a bad game - I agree with that statement. However, you don't lose 65-37 and then turn around and expect to beat that team. UTEP is better than UAB. I don't even want to see UTEP in the C-USA tournament.

UAB better win 5 out of the next 6 games. Four of the games are at Bartow Arena.

We set college basketball back 20 years last night. That was an embarrassement.

I disagree completely, except for the embarassment part. Nothing went right for us, we never got anyone or anything going... and UTEP was able to play their game and force us to play their game. Nothing that we normally do happened, not turnovers forced, steals, runouts, three point shooting, the runner in the lane, nothing. We'll play a lot of games before we shoot that badly again.

Yes, of course UTEP's defense played a part in that horrible shooting percentage. However, so did clanks, misses, shots that shoulda gone in that slid off, etc. I really don't think they can shut us down that way back to back.

If we'd been hitting our shots and playing our system and forced them to run with us, we'd have been at the advantage. We were forced into playing halfcourt with them, our weakness to their strength.

I'd love another crack at them in the tournament. We owe them a whipping... cause they sure as hell dropped an oldfashioned arsewhuppin' on us.

I'm not lying. Probably just unrealistically optimistic. lmfao
West Virginia lost to Marshall, did that set West Virginia back 20 years? Bad nights happen. Hopefully thats out of our system now. Better now than at a more critical juncture.

Anybody can beat anybody on a given night, but at least WVA was in the game. We lost that one in Jaurez somewhere yesterday afternoon. Maybe they got a bad meal somewhere? I haven't seen a UAB team look that out of sync since "Carlos and the Miracles" in a game where Carlos got hurt or had foul trouble. Maybe the "Murry made everybody shave game" was that bad to watch, I've done my best to block it out, so it is a fuzzy memory. haha

I'm 100% with Pence on this one. I hope we don't see UTEP until they return the trip to Bartow next season. Their confidence level against us is going to be through the roof until we administer a beat down.
anybody can have a bad game, and last night was Washington State's turn in only scoring 30 against UCLA last night.[/i]
