Full Version: So, who came up with the idea?

Of having a Ken Sizemore concert to raise money for scholarships? Seriously, maybe I'm oblivious and missing where he was relevant in the music industry, so someone fill me in.
I just can't see how having a retiree living in PC Beach, Florida coming up and singing Puff the Magic Dragon, Tambourine Man and Mr. Bojangles, though I do like Jerry Jeff Walker. (For you young folk the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band DID NOT write that song, much the same as Janis Joplin didn't write Bobby McGee).
I'd also like to know how much, if anything this is costing, and what could they have gotten around the same price that might have actually drawn more than the BASA people who will feel obligated to sit through that. I'm not going to be convinced that someone couldn't have picked up the phone and booked even The Breakfast Club to play a fundraiser show. Atleast JC knows they'll draw 500-1000 people at 10 bucks a head, plus drinks.

This post proves that this is not a good sports area, but rather is a good music area.
I admit that I'm kind of a music snob. I live in a city now where there's great songwriters and musicians literally on every corner. I just want someone to say who's idea it was, and who exactly this guy is going to appeal to? I can't imagine that students will attend this outside of a few dirt worshipping hippie wannabes and some ass kissers to Dave Mullins and the athletic dept. Even going the bluegrass route would have been better. Why not Blue Highway? Isn't Tim Stafford still a professor there? They're an incredibly draw in that genre of music and would have attracted more than just ETSU fans, which one never knows, maybe, just maybe they could have used that as a chance to win over some new fans? Thoughts anyone?
Of course Jerry Jeff wrote that song... in the first precinct jail in New Orleans. 04-cheers
