Belmont will wind up with many more votes than they started with, as usual.

I'm getting tired of losing to them.
I thought North Texas would be where USA is? Kind of surprised. 04-jawdrop

Me too03-weeping
and why exactly is CUSA not involved in this poll? they are certainly not a major basketball conference.
These ***major polls are a load of crap! There is no BCS in College Basketball. We are all D-1 and the only polls that should be used is the AP and Coaches. These are just further attempts to kick-out anyone not belonging to the "ESPN Club Conference", chaired by Dicky V and Digger, to hord all of the NCAA money and tournament seeds. 03-hissyfit

THERE IS NOTHING ***MAJOR ABOUT WKU BASKETBALL!!!:ncaabbs:

+1
I cant believe that they did not put UNT in the top 25. Just goes to show that it takes time to change peoples perceptions. I will be really surprised, and disappointed if we dont win the conference this year.
No offense to WKU, I know that they are a great program, but we have way to much talent returning this year.

.
All polls are basically for pride more than anything. Its all about getting into the NCAA field to show everyone what kind of team you really are. These at least provide more publicity for the teams that don't get the big boy stamp of approval. Dickie V will actually give a shout out to the non-BCS teams but Digger likes to cuddle with the BCS minions.

KIND of surprised! I am flabbergasted. Either those guys don't keep up with mid-major BB at all, or they keep up with it so close that they know USA's incoming class is one of the best in recent memory. Nothing against USA, but they lost a ton of talent from last year's team.

It could be this Pappy. The coaches are a cross section from across the country. They probably all know WKU and know USA has been right there close the last few years but North Texas has been kind of a middle of the pack and has risen to the top of the west. I am thinking they just don't keep up with the SBC well enough to know such. This is just my hunch. 03-confused
And they saw that USA was in the title game last year and figured they must be good.

While I do hope they're right, USA didn't look like a Top 25 team to me last night versus University of West Florida -- http://www.al.com/usabasketball/mobilere...xml&coll=3

Sure, they beat the Argos handily as they should have but they looked awfully sloppy on both sides of the ball and they tried but didn't gell as a team at all despite anything in the article. Of course, I suppose most teams are rusty and "off" a bit this time of the year and the Jags DO have the talent to make an impact but I'd be surprised (from what I witnessed) if there is a lot of postseason potential in this year's team. Hopefully I'm wrong though -- Coach Ronnie Arrow is one of the great ones and coaching cannot be underestimated.

Just my 2 cents :-)
How is the WAC not in this??? The Belt should remove the conference from this poll - these conferences are not our competition in my opinion. The SWAC is NOT a mid-major, they are a bottom feeder conference that consistently gets relegated to the "play-in" game. The only two conferences that give this poll validity are the Belt and the MVC.

I agree that this is a pretty vague and silly poll... But don't forget the WCC, the Horizon, and the Colonial teams in there.

Its going to be a close race no doubt. But we are going to be good and quite possibly scary good. There is a buzz here in BG that I haven't heard in years... not to even mention that Denver, Arkansas State, and Troy will definately have some say in how this season goes.

PS - I agree UNT should have been ranked higher in this poll.
