Battle of Unbeatens

Troy, winners of five in a row will try to make it six this Saturday night when they host the ULM Warhawks in Movie Gallery Stadium.

Home has been good to the Trojans as they have made it a hard place for opponents to come into and win. In the last decade, Troy ranks 1st overall with a difference of 50.7 percent, winning 87.8 percent of their home games compared to just 37.1 percent on the road.

Last season the two teams played one of the Sun Belts most exciting games with ULM edging the Trojans 31-30 in Malone Stadium. Troy had a chance to win the game late on a long 56 yard field goal attempt by Sam Glusman. The kick hit the crossbar and bounced back onto the field giving the Trojans their only conference loss. In the leagues 9 year history only one team has ever gone undefeated in conference play and that was North Texas (21-0 from 2002-04).

"We didn't turn the ball over against them last year and made some big plays", coach Charlie Weatherbie said in his weekly sunbelt news conference. That kick could have gone either way, we were fortunate to come out on top.

Ironically it was then backup Trey Revell that came into the game late for an injured Kinsmon Lancaster and led the Warhawks on the game winning drive. Revell hit J.J. McCoy on a 7 yard in route that proved to be the game winner.

Revell's status for this weeks game is still up in the air although he did soft toss before the Kentucky game. More than likely the Trojans will see Cody Wells in the pocket for the second straigt week. Well made is first college start last week against Kentucky and threw for 267 yards on 20 completions.

"I hope we can stay in the football game with them", said Weatherbie.

Troy will come out guns blazing with their high profile quarterback Levi Brown. Brown is coming off a huge performance against North Texas in which he threw for 469 yards on 27 completions. Levi already has 2,148 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. He is on pace to throw for more than 3,600 yards this season and is averaging 306 a game.

"Coach Weatherbie and his staff have done a great job", said Larry Blakeney. They are very good in all three phases of the game. They know how to attack you and give you a lot of problems from an offensive standpoint. Defensively they look the best they have been since Weatherbie has been there".

Troy (28.6) and ULM(28.0) rank 1st and 2nd respectively in the SBC scoring per game. The Warhawks boast the leads top rushing attack at 182 yards per game while Troy has the leagues top passing offense at 312 yards per game. Troy also leads the conference putting up an impressive 460 yards per game. ULM is giving up 245 passing yards a game while Troy gives up a league worst 262.

yeah, i guess Levi IS a high-profile quarterback. Graham Watson said he's one of the best out there.
