I just checked the ESPN schedule and this is what I found:

Thu., Nov. 5 Virginia Tech at East Carolina 7:30 p.m. ESPN
Thu., Nov. 12 South Florida at Rutgers 7:30 p.m. ESPN
Thu., Nov. 12 Texas Southern at Grambling State 9 p.m. ESPNU
Fri., Nov. 27 Nebraska at Colorado 3:30 p.m. ABC
Fri., Nov. 27 Rutgers at Louisville TBD ABC, ESPN or ESPN2
Fri., Nov. 27 Illinois at Cincinnati TBD ABC, ESPN or ESPN2
Fri., Nov. 27 Nevada at Boise State TBD ESPN2
Fri., Nov. 27 Pittsburgh at West Virginia TBD ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2

So much for that national coverage we get for giving up Saturday games.

Are we going to have any TV coverage for the NIU/CMU showdown?

There's this national holiday the 26th I don't know if you've heard of...Thanksgiving or something like that.

And ESPN has been doing this Thursday thing all season long. Nothing new here.

Im sure ESPN will grab it on one of their stations if it is for the MAC West Title...
Most anyone looking ahead at the schedule last summer surely expected EMU and BSU to field weak teams.

Akron was the wild card IN TERMS OF PREDICTABLE SUCCESS but ZIPS not a TH opponent.

TV-MAC schedule makers could also qualify as pilots for NW Airlines.

Be kinda funny to watch or read about a game between the Zips and Chips at Tostita Bowl.

NIU vs. EMU was selected for ESPNU over Temple @ Miami, so their game gets delegated to ESPN360. Still waiting for ESPN to select between NIU vs. BSU or BGSU @ Miami for Nov. 11th.

http://mattsarzsports.com/2009/MAC.aspx

The MAC made a very bad business decision with this terrible ESPN selection process of playing two MAC games at the same time on the same weekday and ESPN selects one of the games to go on their minimally distributed ESPNU channel and the other game is designated for ESPN360.

ESPN360 is not TV coverage and this selection process is a joke. ESPN needs to pick which games it wants to televise beforehand that way whichever games they don't choose don't force a school to play a weekday home game in front of less fans for no TV coverage.

I'd rather NIU just play Saturday home games on CSN Chicago than a weekday home game on ESPNU/ESPN360.

You would think a ranked CMU squad (they will be ranked if they don't lose up until that game) vs. NIU for the MAC west title would be a little more exciting game than Rutgers and Louisville
I bet the CMU game ends up during the day on the U.

Exactly why I didn't renew my season tickets was the ability to attend maybe one game. When you have to work out of town and have these weekday games, it limits what games you will be able to attend. Toss in a wedding and parents weekend and you don't see a benefit to ESPN deal. Weeknight games are why I dropped the tickets.
Hey whatever deal we can workout so that we get Saturday home games in September. Its kinda hard to schedule everything with the weak deals slick Rick used to get us. He didnt want NIU getting the million dollar deals bc other places didnt have a game like that. He wanted everything to be "fair" in the MAC. He was a communist. So now that he is gone hopefully we can have a nice schedule where we play a couple BCS schools make a couple mill and get a couple September Saturday games. Then 2-3 more in October. Have the last few games in November on tv because the kids dont go anyways they arent at school or its way too cold. Another thing is that is really a honor to be on tv on a friday night because every college football player is watching you. All those that play on saturday are sitting in a hotel room friday night talking to family and friends watching football on espn waiting for their ******* coach to babysit em. Players get a little bit more jacked for those games, players want respect.

If you are ever able to attend a weeknight game, you can do it for free. Just get to DeKalb a little early and pick up some of those free tickets that Athletics hands out all over the city to get bodies in the stands.

Not only was it a bad decision, if you notice VERSUS is starting to pick up more and more college football. I think they have the WAC that would have been a good doubleheader possiblities. Only downside is that basically ESPN is pretty much owning and dictating all the bowl games at this point and we would be left out in the cold.
