27th in the AP poll

Harris poll not out yet
Wonder how many other 7-1 teams there are not ranked in the top 25. Oh wait, probably none.
Beat BC!!!!!!!
They're 27 in the Harris poll as well. Temple has 5 points in this week's edition.
I figured I'd see CMU at #25 in this weekend's polls. Boston College is the top 25 measuring stick for the team. Good luck against them.
It's going to be hard for CMU to crack the top 25 the rest of the season if they don't win vs. BC. If CMU is indeed a top 25 team then they need to win this game.
if cmu wins out,and also wins the mac playoff where would they end up.
can they get out of the tie in's .is there a bowl that pays much more than any of the others.i am not that familiar with bowl payouts.could they get out of the current tie in's and would it mean much more money?

If CMU wins out (11-1) and wins the MACC over say Temple (who may have a few votes of their own by then) they will probably be in the mid to high teens.

I think the voters have us in a good spot, except for the Scout poll that has us at 47! Basically, we need to win (earn) our way into the top 25 this weekend. However, if CMU loses a close one to BC and wins out I still see us in the top 25. It depends on what happens to the teams in front of us.
Had BC beaten the Irish, things would have aligned perfectly for CMU, as I could see a letdown at BC. Yet, everything is in front of them for CMU. Win this and they get ranked.

I'm not so sure if a close loss and winning out will get it done. Lots of other teams' results will play into that. Still, I'd love to see the Chips reap the rewards of a great season. Would be good for the league, as well.

One more thought - strange how things work out. LeFevour got his first action as a fr. against BC in Mt. P. Now, a huge game for CMU looms which will have major ramifications for the Chips and it is against.......BC. Kind of a circle of life thing.

Good luck, CMU. Win this one.

Don't think Dan doesn't remember that particular piece of unfinished business. We were less than 40 yards from paydirt and tying the game at Kelly/Shorts when he was intercepted off a swinging gate play. Not the play I would have chosen with a redshirt freshman QB getting his first action. 03-banghead

I'm not sure if BC beating ND would have been better or not, but that was definitely a rivalry-type game for the Eagles intensity-wise. I'm thinking that following a close loss, some kind of letdown may still be possible.

In any case, this CMU team, IMHO is better than the one that lost to BC in '06. BC, OTOH, has no Matt Ryan and doesn't appear as dominant defensively. It should be a very, very good game! Now excuse me while I go stock up on antacid for the week...
One more week. The number will be that much sweeter after this Saturday.
CMU has been robbed imo up to this point. I figured with the destruction of BG that they'd impress enough to hit the top 25. too bad michigan state didn't beat Iowa saturday... maybe that would have put the Chips in. if CMU wins the conference, what bowl are they likely to go to?

Just because you lost by 17 to BGSU, doesn't mean they're very good.

has nothing to do with Troy losing to them.. CMU is 7-1 and top 25 worthy. besides, BG isn't as bad as their record.

If MSU had beaten Iowa I have no doubt they would have jumped us instead of Notre Dame. Same goes for BC, had they beaten Notre Dame they would be 25. Such is life in the MAC. We need to win our way into it Saturday.
If CMU defeats BC this weekend, doubt very many persons can say the Chippewas haven't earned a Top 25 ranking.
Ahhhhh but you haven't heard the ND crowd who are upset by being taken to the wire by another "average" team (BC). They believe they should have stomped them. LOL
