After seeing NIU-NUT's post about Harnish's surgery today, went searching. Next four dont look like gimmes anymore if Harnish out for those games. Article does not mention surgery, just a visit to the doctor.

Harnish injured the knee against Toledo this past Saturday in a 20-19 loss, although it's unclear on which play it happened. Harnish took a hard hit and a possibly late hit on NIU's final drive of the fourth quarter when he scrambled for two-yard run and was hit by Toledo's Derrick Summers and then safety Barry Church. Church's hit disoriented Harnish for the next few plays but Harnish said after the game his head was fine.

"If Chandler's not where he needs to be and is not able to practice by Thursday or get moving around by Thursday then we're certainly not going to take a risk or anything of that nature," Kill said. "I think we'll know a lot more in the next two or three days."

In the meantime, Grady and Morris received extra repetitions at Tuesday's practice.

"That's what we're working on with [Grady] and Ryan Morris, the crafty veteran that's been here through the years," Kill said.
This certainly adds a twist to things...
This just reiterates the point that when you have so many designed QB runs / draws your QB is highly susceptible to injury. Now I don't think the play he was injured on was a designed QB run play, but the point remains valid.

Another interesting tidbit was the comment that Harnish was "disoriented" after the hit for the next couple of plays. This isn't the first time we have heard a comment like this from Harnish this year.

If Harnish can't play this week I do have some confidence in Grady, specifically in his ability to run the designed QB run plays. I also think he will be fine throwing 90% of our designed pass plays as most are under 10 yards anyway 03-wink
I saw him limping late in the game.
Grady with the qb sneak!!!
When was the last time an NIU QB played the entire season?

I know he missed games in 2004. So are you talking about the 2003 season?
Take a look at college football and how many teams are playing of late without starting QB or lost the starter for a few games - Tebow & Stafford - for starters.

In most every season every year teams are confronted with loss of key personnel for a few games or worse - the entire season.

Anticipate & expect it and if it does not occur, simply consider it unusually good fortune.
Tebow never missed a game this season. He got knocked out of the Kentucky game when he shouldn't have been playing but he played the next week against LSU.

Aaron Gilbert, 1995.

SWAG.
Harnish was running the offense at a time they needed a game winning drive while he was limping and disoriented -- and coaches apparently saw this and did nothing --- and we lost the game. I don't even need to comment. The facts lead to the obvious conclusion!

BTW- don;t say we had no choice. A coach should ALWAYS have the second string QB ready to go. You do that by giving him snaps in games that hopefully you put out of reach. We haven't done that either.

BTW2- I like Morris and think he will be fine; Anderson was a HS QB, no?

In the coaches defense, Harnish did complete a very nice pass to Landon Cox, while limping and apparently disoriented, that set up the game winning errr blocked field goal.

I guess conclusion only obvious to some. Those who thought it was a good outcome will need further explanation - not from me though.
Harnish being hurt on the last drive isn't why we lost. He made plays on the final drive.
The only thing that I have ever seen Morris do is exceed expectations when he has played. I know there is a reason that he is thrid string with all of his experience, but something tells me that he can probably manage a game without making too many mistakes if we need to call on him.
I hold the same strange hope for Senior Ryan should Grady struggle.
Ryan Morris sucks.

That's very possible if you set your expectations low. Which this only natural to do with a walk on QB.
