Can UAB get into the top 25 with a win over USM and the close game with #3 Memphis?
Yep. We COULD or SHOULD have beat the #2 RPI team in the country. A blowout win over USM would get us to 25 I think.

Don't see it happening.
Creoleman you are annoying
I don't either. We're going to continue to get votes but we will probably need to run off about 3 wins in row to break in.
In all sports, there's only one team that moves up after a loss and that's Notre Dame barely losing to SoCal. We might get more votes, but we won't be in the Top 25. I'd bet more people will be saying Memphis was having an off-night than we're that good.
Don't think that will be the case. Also UT lost to Memphis but did Florida in the same week and broke into the polls.

Unfortunately, USM is no Florida.
I agree, UAB will get more votes, but I don't see them breaking into the top 25. However, with a BIG win tomorrow and a BIG win over UTEP, the Blazer can and will break into the top 25, but that won't happen for another 2 weeks.
Creole is annoying at times, but I think he's right here. Even with an impressive win over USM, we'd be unlikely to be ranked. However, if we beat USM, and then next week go to UCF AND UTEP and come back with wins, I'll just about guarantee a Top 25 ranking on that following Monday.
I agree with the three wins and we're in scenario but looking at this weekends matchups for the teams near the bottom of the poll leads me to think there could be some losses there that could sneak us in this week.

Thats what I've been thinking.
You're right...there's:

Arizona vs #25 North Carolina (UNC already lost once this week)

Rutgers vs #23 Louisville

Michigan vs #21 Wisconsin (Definite upset possibility here)

South Carolina vs #20 Tennessee (South Carolina just upset Florida)

#5 Texas vs #22 Oklahoma (Definite chance of a loss here)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you're looking at 4 teams from 20th-25th that have a very decent chance of being knocked off.

Some other big games to watch this weekend:

Cincinnati vs Georgetown

Xavier vs Dayton

LSU vs Ole Miss

(All of these games involve some potential teams flirting with the Top 25).

Nope. It's happened at least once before. In 1997, Nebraska was No. 1 in football and went into Tiger Stadium in Columbia, Mo. Missouri took the Cornhuskers to OT on an illegal play by Nebraska that the officials ignored that sent the game to OT. Nebraska won in OT.

Missouri went from being unranked to a No. 16 debut in the polls.

So, it can be done.

Are you referring to the infamous "kickball" game?

Football and basketball Kirk. That is comparing apples to oranges.

But UT did pull it off last week. After losing to Memphis they beat Florida and got ranked. But you see the circumstances in that scenario. UT played Memphis tough in Memphis and beat an undefeated Florida on their court. They deserve to be ranked.

UAB playing Memphis tough at the FEDEX and then beating USM at home does not merit getting into to the Top 25. But that is just my opinion.
I predict we get LESS votes....
there is no way you guys crack the top 25 next week. won't happen. you keep winning in conf. though, and i can see it in 2 - 3 weeks possibly.

Never say never. You see all those teams in 20-25 with a realistic shot of losing this weekend? Also most of those first several in the "Receiving Votes" category have a decent shot of losing. Likely? No. Possible? Yes.

What game did you watch last night? 01-wingedeagle
Considering utk lost a close one to Memphis, and jumped the polls at #19, I don't think this loss hurt you guys at all. I don't know about top 25, but you guys are close. Hope you get there. Your better than louisville..
