Granted this guy is a dork, but still sad when people even from the the next state over don't know who UAB is.

And, accidentally running across this after the fact, I wish even more we had won that game and made those drunk frat boys cry.

Looks like Ray Charles must have nailed a white chick on his way through Mississippi circa 1990.

sorry but andrew never work at UAB or even at UAB highland
Interestingly, he is listed in the UAB employee directory as a clinical professor. Based on that, I assumed that he does some teaching for us. I could be wrong on that though.
HE still a very good surgeon but never work at UAB (patient related) dont know about teaching
UAB football is still a joke for everybody and it is reflect bad on the University
I was at the game and we look terrible
Tell that jackleg to ask their basketball coach who the hell UAB is.

+1
Only one word to describe this guy: TOOL
Nah. Two words.

Small tool.
still new here - does that actually do anything to a rep when i type +1??
and why do i have a warning level and noone else does???
+1 is just an indicator that you agree with the post you quoted. It doesn't have anything to do with rep points.

Also, each user can only see his/her own warning level. We all have one.

Click on their name in the box on the left side. That gets you to their page. Then click "Reputation" and you can + or - and say why.

Typing +1 to a post is taken as "yeah, what he said". Warning level is only visible to each poster his ownself. It goes up the more you're an asshat.
thanks for the info

I'd really love for rep to be invisible to all users. Especially when you have no control over what rep is received...
Sure you do. Be a nice guy, informative, post useful things found elsewhere, don't be a dick, and you tend to gain positive rep.

Be negative, a pain in the neck, irritate lots of people lots of the time, and you tend to accumulate negative rep.

The reason for having rep points is to provide a handy benchmark for those on the board who have earned the respect of the other people who are here a lot, or the disdain of those same people. Nobody has enough friends to be able to spin their rep if the general public disagrees either way. It provides a thumbnail judgment for folks who may not know a poster well to be able to look at who has given him pluses or minuses. If someone you know and like thinks a poster is a good guy, that gives you a bit of insight. Likewise, if several people you know and respect say a guy is a tool (or several people you think are idiots think he's great) you have that info to go on.

It's not perfect, but it is helpful.
"i move here 17 years ago and I still don't know what is an OLE miss"

About 100+ years ago, that's what they named their yearbook after a contest. It's not a short version of Mississippi. Rather, it's what slaves called the plantation owner's wife (daughter being "Young Miss"). What that says about them, you can interpret yourself, but I won't use their nickname.

(gained this knowledge dating a former UofM homecoming queen).
