This is an interesting story at least to me. I don't understand why a coach that old would want to stay on while others are actually doing the coaching. It seems the longer a coach stays he gets the attitude that he alone should make the decision when he retires. Some say he has done so much for FSU football that he should stay on as long as he wants to stay. Others say he is now hurting the football program and should retire. He probably has done a lot for FSU football but it's probably safe to say he has been well paid.

People who love what they're doing, especially sports figures, just can't seem to give it up. The adrenaline rush is something they need to enjoy life. As someone reported, Bowdent took a girls school and made it into a national football power. He deserves to stay as long as he wants. If the program suffers for awhile, that's the price you pay for having a legend as a coach. Amos Alonzo Stagg coached into his 90's, so Florida State fans had better be patient, because they could have Bowden around for another 20 years or so.04-cheers
