to say about UAB well he just had to very positive things to say about UAB Athletics.
A caller was talking about Sharpe and said would he had been any different if he had went to Alabama? Probably not was the response from Paul. Then the caller said "you know he wouldn't make it with Mike Anderson at UAB. If he can't make practice at MSU what make you think he will want to get up and practice at 5:30 in the morning at UAB!" Paul said Mike is a pretty nice guy and is fine with a player as long as they do what he ask of them. Then he said Sharpe would be on a pretty short leash at UAB.
Then the next caller asked a question about UAB Football and the BOT. He asked Paul if he sat on the BOT would he voted for UAB to have a football program that could possibly compete with Bama? The caller mentioned that UAB has sent several players to the NFL but asked why would the BOT allow UAB to have a football program? Paul response was that it was already in the works for UAB to go in this direction. And he said that even had he sat on the board at the time UAB decided they want a football program he would have been in support of it. He mentioned that at the time the there was no Div I program in the city and he would have thought Birmingham would have been a big enough city to support one. Paul also said that for the most part the football team has been better than average with the players they get and the overall play on the field but did mention the attendence issues. Paul did wonder how long would the BOT continue to support a football program that is making minimum profit if any at all.
But nothing negative came out of Paul mouth about UAB for a change.
