We probably won't be able to have a game discussion tonight, because the Memphis fans are going to enter complete meltdown mode.

On the other hand, they could get so angry they leave their computers and head out to lynch Tommy West....
Marshall 24, Memphis 13. 13:46 left in the game.
24-13 with 13:40 to go.

Watching the game on CSS, there are very few fans in Legion Field, uhh I mean the Liberty Bowl. It does look Legion Fieldish with so few fans there.
According to the game thread on empty.org, there's 20,000 at the game.

Yeah, we like to say stuff like that too.
24-16 Marshall, now.

Memphis got a break. They got the ball down to the nine and then fumbled the ball. Marshall picked it up and was running it back to midfield when the refs finally blew the whistle. The Marshall guy would have scored a touchdown because no one was around him. The refs after a review said forward progress had stopped, but they should have blown the whistle much earlier.

Memphis could only get a fieldgoal out of it. 8 minutes left.
Marshall wins, 27-16 at Memphis in an empty Liberty Bowl stadium.
Does this help Memphis get into the Big East?
I don't think their football program cheats well enough. Now, the b-ball program..............................................................
I went to this game and there were lots of empty seats. The home side looked to be much more full than the other side. My view might've been affected by sitting in the corner in the visitor's section.

We catch a lot of hell when we say that.
Most of the people on mt.org are killing their own children. This is almost as bad as when Cal left.

I'm really starting to feel bad for Tommy West. It is probably time for him to go, but he should still get some respect. Yes, he 's made a mediocre team out of Memphis, but what most Tiger fans seem to forget is, that was a big step UP for Tiger football.

IF Memphis were to get into the Big East, it would be because Fred Smith and Alan Graf, et al bought our way in. How good the football team is or isn't is immaterial. *shrug*
Just a few short years ago we averaged 40,000 plus butts in the seats for our aversge football attendance. Just goes to show you what 3 to 4yrs. of bad football can do to a fan base. The fans are there, they just refuse to show up to watch bad football and sad to say that's just what Tiger football has become. Now, we're just looking to the future with hopes of better things to come.
We averaged 40,000 because of Deangelo, not because of anything Tommy did or didn't do.
We got 44,000 because of Ruben Studdard, too. 03-drunk

That was for one game. I'm talking about a season average. Hey, I wish every team in CUSA averaged over 40,000 per game. Maybe the conference would be better accepted then.

So, what's your point. The Tiger fans are there, we averaged over 40,000 2 years running. Yea, having DeLo helped but the team was also playing some decent football then, not the crap we're witnessing now. Bad football turns fans away, and right now we're playng bad football.
