Wow, that has to be a first for alot of sports around here, glad to hear things are changing on the diamond. Looks like the baseball program is headed in the right direction.
26 recruits? That's a pretty big class for a baseball team, it seems. But I guess I don't really know.

Has to be a large class. In average year you will recruit 1/4 of your squad, maybe a little more with attrition. We don't have 100 players on the squad.
It is a large class, but many if not most are J/C guys. The formula is likely closer to 1/2 than 1/4 as many are 2 year guys.

whatever percentage they have is cool, what great pr for the program the university. I was told the coach expects to keep adding in the future, guess he had great success in the past and expects it here as well.
How many players are typically on a college baseball team? In the majors it's like, 25-30, right?
Yup. 7 position guys and 23 pitchers. Or something like that.
there were 14 players left from last year 2 that RS one who just had TJ surgery 26 new players some are walkons 40 are on the roster now 3 or 4 of those guys are recovering from surgery. 35 man spring roster shouldn't be hard to get them there. i've seen them scrimmage now and there is a marked improvement in talent. it should be a good year probaly the best they have had since they entered the sunbelt. i think they are going to play a game at dickey stephens this year vs kansas, and next year oklahoma and oral roberts.

It used to be 25 when I last followed baseball. That's been awhile. Don't know if that number has changed.

Playing a game at Dickey Stephens against a name opponent sounds exciting. I'm cautiously optimistic about the recruiting class. We had some decently ranked classes before. We are in the 60 or so teams in the "other" category after the Top 40 classes. How much of that is based on the large number of recruits as opposed to the overall talent level, I don't know. I'm hopeful our new coach will turn things around.
i will say this, on paper this class looks stronger than the U of A. looking at past rosters the norm was to have about 5 juco all conference players per year on the roster, and in most cases those guys performed well while they were here. this roster has 12 or so guys like that with many of them earning pre and post season honors. i watched coach Norwood and staff turn around maybe one of the worst d2 teams in the country in 4 years to a national contender (really 3 years they were just as good the year before) don't think they will have a problem making UALR respectable very soon (year 3 could be very good just like at OBU)
So, I guess they'll meet in Omaha.

Your optimism is somewhat contagious. I really hope UALR can become a competitive to very good baseball program. We have been down so long, I just got to the point that I thought it could never happen here. The Sun Belt is a very good baseball conference. If we could be competitive with the best teams, an NCAA berth is a real possibility.
