Just wondering if anyone has had both systems and which has the better programming for the money..I have had DirecTV for about 12 years now but I have a friend who has Dish and it seems like he gets better channels than I do..He has basically the same package I have money wise but it seemed like he has more of a variety and better sports channels to..I know one thing for sure, a lot of the channels you get with DirecTV is paid programming which I can't stand..So if anyone out there knows I would appreciate your response..Thanks

I've had both. The channel lineups aren't that different, but Dish seemed to have more package options. DirecTV has NFL Sunday Ticket, though. I think Dish has a much, much better HD DVR, and has receivers that can support two TV's watching different programs at one time. Each tuner has it's own remote, one is infrared, and the other is radio. Fewer boxes means a lower monthly bill.
dish.
Thanks guys for the help I really appreciate it..
I was a big time supporter of Direct, and they have a great Product GG. I have now been with Dish for the last three years. And we just got the duo DVR. It works, Dish has some great packages. I never thought I would prefer Dish, but I have had good service, and enjoy it greatly. The service people who I have encountered have been professional, and have even given me tips on packages and other things. Dish, has won me over.
One more thing to consider is that Dish now has the Red Zone channel. It shows all the games of teams that are in the red zone and if noone is in the red zone, it shows games of interest. There are no commercials either! It's great and you have to have the silver package or higher and the sports package which is only $5.99 per month. I watched it this past weekend and it was awesome.
I would usually say DirecTv but their customer service is starting to suck. They are also getting pretty expensive. Had a guy run a new box for me last week and he opened up the window ran the line through and closed the window...50 bucks are you kidding me?
AT&T's U-Verse is a much better product and no dish! I can watch TV during storms! DVR is on main tv but can be watched by any other tv on the "home network" (up to 4 free). DVR functionality is waaaaaay easier than DTV or Dish. I also have my internet bundled in and it saved me $25 per month, you could also add home phone or wireless to the bundled package but we do not have a home phone, we use MagicJack and it works great. Internet includes whole house secure Wi-Fi, and the installer will set up each computer you need them to if you can't do it yourself.
Thanks for all the info..
