According to one of the intelligence agencies, what is the most Often used name for towns in america. I was gonna guesss Jackson. I think there is a Jackson in every state. At one time, the most Often used American City name, was "Oxford". I have not searched it. I read it in "Body of Secrets", by James Bamford.

The top listed name for a U.S town is Clinton. I thought it was Springfield, but that's number 7 on the list according to this.

I'll add
Bucksnort, TN to the list of towns which brings a smile just about every time I pass it on I-40.
Oddly , I was born in Clinton , Kentucky. Oxford was the most popular, but that was on some stats from the sixties. I was like you, Jackson, Springfield. I also lived in Arlington Kentucky, which was # 8 on that list.
As a kid, I would look at maps, for strange names. Panther Burn Miss, is a good one. Without the internet as a kid in the 60's, maps were a lot of fun to me. Just go through Google Earth, and I'm sure you can fill up this thread with Killer names.

You beat me to the name of Bucksnort, Tn. Oxnard, CA is another name that is odd to be name for the favorite towns of this section. Hell is another odd time in Norway. Iraq, Florida is another weird, along with Moscow, Paris and Lebanon TN.

I went to Hell in March; Hell, Grand Cayman. There's also Hell, Norway (as you mention), Hell, Michigan, Hell, California both in the U.S.

I've never been to two cities in Tennessee, but have wondered what they were thinking when they named them, since they are cities nearest to one another. Difficult, TN and Defeated, TN. Their Chamber of Commerce Boards had to have been full plates.
There is a town in Germany, that has an interesting name. And it starts with a F. I saw this on tv just the other night.

Ha! You don't really think I didn't know about this place, did you? Not only that, but down the street lives a hooker that runs a bait and taxidermy shop. I used to frequent all those places before I got married. I was so drunk the last time I was there that I got confused about who and what I was supposed to be mounting that all 3 places asked me never to return.

My 20 year old kid and his girlfriend went to the MTSU game.
Upon returning, he said, "Hey dad, did you know there is a porn shop at Bucksnort?"
There is an entire basket of dirty clothes for a one-day trip that I won't touch.
Trout need their porn too, I guess.
