Said JJ basically hangs up on other schools if he even answers the phone.
Said we can expect an announcement within a week.02-13-banana
Also, on a bad note, said how bad the organization for the Memphis football game visit was. He also said how great the visit was for the UT game, and how well organized their whole visit was to Knoxville.03-banghead

Memphis football game visit? JJ? or Kendrick?
I thought the Ole Miss game was unorganized in general. They need to to figure out a better system for the students than having everyone gather in a big crowd and go through about three lines to get your ID scanned.

I dont understand why they dont do like the bigger schools and make students go get a ticket (free) to get into the game prior to gameday. That way you could just treat students like regular guests entering the stadium.

Students can get tickets prior, but can also swipe an active student ID to get in on gameday.

No news on Kendrick. The football visit was KE with a bunch of potentials and their family. He said there was no food setup and it took like forty minutes for them to get into the game. Sad.
Food was set up, a little late. Biggest issue, for the players, was the wait outside the LB.
UT probably doesn't have to deal with the City of Knoxville. I would think they probably run their own stadium.

The only tickets you can get are guest tickets. Im talking about forcing students to gog et a ticket prior to gameday instead of swiping ids
So JJ hangs up on others schools being UT and KU?
He does talk to Pastner and crew?

I'm sure after they spoke with you it will be handled better in the future.
This is not acceptable for a elite program.

The people they assign to give out tickets, comp tickets etc could use a
lesson in "friendly", not just for this but at most events, Comp Zombies.

Along similar lines. Just a few years ago when we played UT at the LB some gates were not open causing fans to the miss the beginning of the game. It was riduculous and the University was going to address it. Everyone knew it would be the biggest game of year and they were ill-prepared. At other games when DW was here they didn't have enough ticket booths open to deal with the walk-ups.

Created a really negative perception for local fans and visiting fans.

Not only that but UT can hire ($$$) as many people as they want to organize these thing. Memphis just can't do that. But they need to do something, thats for sure.

What would stop students from selling their tickets if they don't have to swipe their student ID?

When I was in school the biggest hold up in the student line was when they would search people and check inside purses or bags.

Maybe the other guys hire smarter and nicer people?

Well for better or worse there was no searching or checking this time, at least not when I went through. I think making everyone get tickets is a better option than the current plan. There were too many people just huddled together in a group impatiently waiting in hot and humid weather. Then, there were only a few scanners and a lot of the IDs were having to be scanned more than once. I walked past the other gates and didn't see near as much traffic. Maybe if they designated one lane at a few other gates as student lines in addition to Gate 5 it might help some.

With our already low student turn-out for non-huge football games, doing this would cut our student turn-out in half as it is inconvenient to go buy a ticket at Wilder Tower or some other place before going to the game.

Showing up and just swiping your ID is extremely easy.
