GAME NOTES: The UAB Blazers will look to extend their winning streak when they clash with the South Florida Bulls tonight at the Sun Dome. The Blazers have won three straight games, including a tremendous 90-71 victory over Oklahoma State on Wednesday. UAB will play two more non-league games before opening its Conference USA schedule against Tulsa on January 11th. As for the Bulls, they have lost three of their last four games, including a tough 75-68 overtime setback to Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday. Since the beginning of the 2003-04 season, the Bulls have had trouble on their home court, posting just a 16-15 ledger. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools, the Blazers hold a solid 34-19 advantage. UAB pulled out an 85-71 victory over the Bulls last January.

The Blazers were sensational at the offensive end against Oklahoma State their last time on the court, shooting a sizzling 62.5 percent from the field, which included a 10-of-20 showing from long range. The team's offensive play should not be surprising, considering the Blazers are averaging 77.6 ppg on the year. Marvett McDonald has done an excellent job for the Blazers, leading the team with 15.1 ppg. Demario Eddins is second on the team with 13.8 ppg, while Wen Mukubu rounds out the double-figure scorers with 11.3 ppg. Against the Cowboys earlier this week, the Blazers were led by McDonald, who poured in a game-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, which included a 7-of-11 showing from long range. Mukubu added 16 points, while Paul Delaney and Eddins tallied 12 points apiece.

The Bulls have not had the offensive success as their counterpart here tonight, scoring just 65.1 ppg. Luckily, the team has played well defensively, holding the opposition to just 63.1 ppg behind a lackluster 40.2 percent shooting effort from the field. In their overtime setback to Bethune-Cookman, the Bulls struggled once again at the offensive end, shooting just 33.9 percent overall, which included a 7-of-21 effort from long range. James Holmes, who is leading the team with 19.8 ppg for the season, connected on 6- of-11 shots from long range to finish game with 22 points. Solomon Jones added 15 points for the Bulls, while McHugh Mattis posted a double-double consisting of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jones has been the second-best option on the team thus far, as the center is averaging close to a double-double with 13.6 ppg and 9.7 rpg. Chris Capko also did a solid job for USF, as the guard tallied 10 points and dished out six assists.

South Florida has been sensational at the defensive end this season, however, the Bulls do not have enough offensive firepower to run with UAB. Look for the Blazers to pull away late en route to their fourth straight victory.

Predicted Outcome

UAB 75, South Florida 63

If late is 5 minutes into the game...

UAB 87
USF 62
I'm going to say....UAB 80, USF 72.
I'm going to say UAB 66, USF 63
Blazers lead by 5 at the break, run it out to 10, then actually fall behind before a late spurt gives them the win.
UAB 73
South Florida 63

+1, on both counts!
UAB- 81
USF- 68
Swish will not be quite as hot tonight. However, we should pull away in the second half. We are a tired team I bet, however. That is the only thing that worries me a little.

UAB 82
USF 74
Man, no one was even close with tonight's score prediction. Of course, none of us expected the offense to take the night off after the last two performances, either.
