Our D looked better than last year...despite how fast scUM was.

Our D backs will prove to be a strength as the year goes on.

Hiller looked old. Not mobile, stiff, and unathletic. Hard to see him making an impact in the NFL.

We were able to run the ball fairly well but our pass blocking broke down at times.

Ponder and Ravenell looked promising.

scUM is good and will possibly prove to be really good.

Brandon West was our best player today. Was strong and decisive hitting the holes.

Our playes showed a ton of CLASS and despite the score I am very proud of them!

Go Broncos!
I agree with everything you said. Michigan looked good. They took a lot of things away from us. But we're going to be fine.
Hard to evaluate based on the first game. The old saying is that a team shows the most improvement between games 1 and 2.

I hope IU believes that they will get an easy win next week - but on second thought, they barely escaped themselves in game one.
WRs must step up, that was the toughest thing for me to see. I'm not worried about Hiller unless he can't trust his receivers, like today.

Better tackling would've helped.

Glad to see this game done and over with. I seriously wanted to see another MAC win @ Stadium/Main.

Tate Forcier plays his best with insufficient talent around him. I think his HS career prepared him exactly for today.

I thought Slick Rick was going to run up the score, this was more like Lloyd. It's amazing how things straighten out when you're being investigated.

I'll always be a Bo fan, now I'm convinced I'm a full MAC fan now. Except for Temple and BG. You know, I'm not too thrilled with Central and Ball State either.
Speaking of observation, look who was roaming the sidelines today. Not really a surprise.

Don't really care for that hat though. Looks as if he's already gone Hollywood.

I didn't see much letup, they wanted their shutout badly, and they wanted to score on the other side equally as bad. Ask West and Nunez if they weren't hitting out there, there were pads popping late in the game, this was no letup deal by scUM, we all know from before that RR doesn't roll that way.
Another slow start doomed us. Nunez killed us in the first quarter. I don't like putting the blame on one guy, but this is getting to be a trend. Look at his starts in the CMU and Rice games last year, and then the first four "drives" for WMU this game. Nunez: 2 drops, one resulting in an INT, 2 routes where he stopped the route short on 3rd downs. It's all mental with that kid, and his mistakes at Central, Rice and now UofM killed any momentum we had.

I was very impressed with the defense after the 1st quarter. Somehow, some way, WMU has GOT to find a way to shake the rust off earlier in big games. Down 21-0 after 1 quarter just doesn't work.
The time never quit, which is a trend under the cubit era. the team played well and kept fighting. I have to wonder though, allowing 252 yards rushing is scary. We need to start playing three linebackers at once more often or teams are just going to keep running at us. Also we werent very agressive at all on defense. We need to be more agressive on defense
Quote:Hiller looked old. Not mobile, stiff, and unathletic.

Started slow, what's new. He's not mobile, never has been. Gave up field position from the get go. His check downs were good, but his receivers couldn't hang on to it in the first half. UM has a lot of speed in their defense. Receivers rarely got any separation.

UM didn't execute well, but they had the speed to make up for it. Just better athletes.

Game's respectable if they don't turn it over twice in the second half. Hiller lost the grip on one. Funny thing, he did it in warm ups too.
the sideline reporter said that the balls we were using were brand new and super slippery. So Hiller told the ball boys to get out some old beat up ones that werent slippery. The next possession, 75 yard bomb right on the money to Nunez.
IMO, WMU handled themselves well. The D had some moments. I saw Hillers bomb, I saw Hiller throw a 250lb defender off and make a play. I saw some speed on your D. Michigan will be in the hunt for the BIG 10. They should finish in the top 3-4. Definitely not an embarrassing to lose to that team.

WMU definitely has something to build on, keep your spirits up . WMU should kick the ass off the next -3- teams you play. Then the MAC West opener in DeKalb.
I don't agree we handled ourselves well. Our wounds in the first half were pretty much self inflicted. After the first TD our D stopped UM on a couple consecutive series. They did what they had to do.

Our O didn't do anything with it-score, move the ball, work the clock, put Michigan on notice with are capabilities, anything. The receivers looked out of synch and Hiller looked like the UM weenies sprayed SPAM on the ball! Did he even hold a football during the summer months? New football indeed!

Here's hopeing we knocked all the rust off and at least look competent down at Indiana. We have in the past-Lester looked good down there in a loss. No reason we should look like deer in the headlights again. None whatsoever.
Screw blaming the slippery balls (that sounds really inappropriate).

Forcier looked fantastic in his first ever game, and threw some great passes with those footballs. Makes me SICK.
Forcier looked like someone who has been slinging the ball non-stop since January. Hiller looked like somebody who hasn't. That's it in a nutshell. The surgery recovery obviously took a lot more out of Hiller than was let on. He'll get better as the season goes on. Don't give up, we are all damn dissapointed. I don't know when we'll have another chance like that to look solid in front of 108,000 UM walmart fans. probably not in my lifetime.

From the news reports coming out lately, he just may have been! 03-lmfao
No question he HAS, Whinny. He was brought in in January. He hasn't been injurred and I'm sure he's gotten plenty of snaps in between. He participated in Um spring ball. Hiller Didn't take a snap from Houston until fall camp. He spent most of the months in between doing recovery work after surgery.

From what I've read Forcier's been slinging the ball around since he was in his mothers womb, and even then his old man was yelling up her ******, "You're not gripping the laces right damn it!!!!"

LOL. You have to admire him at the same time you have to be revolted at the obsession. The hardest part for a guy like that is what do you do AFTER the football days are ended?

Art Schliechter was another one who lived only to play football. Off the field his life was meaningless so he gravitated to gambling to get the same rush he got playing QB.

You have to have balance in your life or you're headed for disaster. Hiller has a lot more in his life than football. That's good.
