This is not a bashing of Tulane but please, what did they have in attendance last night, 400, 500 fans. I went to a UCF/Tulane game a few years back, UCF fans out numbered Tulane fans 2 to 1.

How can a Div 1 football team surivive with such little fan support.
They need to invest in that smaller facility they play in like we did with Robertson. Even if you can fill them reasonably, NFL stadiums are just bad venues for college football.
As long as there are a few rich Tulane alumni willing to support their football program...then let them spend their money.

Funniest part of last night's game (or saddest) was that Tulane "announced" their attendance last night of 27,638!!

Now...if they would have announced say a figure of 2,763 or 273...most might have said "they were close"...but to use a figure like 27,638??

If thats the case...UCF will set a state record for football attendance tonight with a state-record crowd of 108,744!!!
Playing in the Superdome is like playing in a mausoleum. It's surreal.
How the hell was this thread smack talk? Is this board run by a Tulane guy?
They've played football for umpteen years. Heck, they were a charter member of the SEC. They'll be playing football there 100 years after you are dead and gone.

That answer your question?
Announced attendance refers to PAID attendance. Tulane probably has the most dispersed alumni home base playing D1-A football. Many TU out of town alumni buy season tickets, but are only able to attend a couple of games a year. Note over 85% of Tulane students are from outside of Louisiana. Moreover, since the city of New Orleans lost a great deal of its corporate base in the 70s and 80s and replenished its with tourism, many Tulane alumni have to seek employment in other areas of the country. Therefore, Tulane has some very large alumni satellites around the country. That is why the Green Wave plays Army and will be playing Rutgers and Georgia Tech (to maintain contact and exposure with its alumni) in the near future.
