and they are doing a show on Memphis. This is the first time all summer that I have seen my hometown in real motion (although in small snippets) and for some reason I am getting more and more excited to be able to come home and cheer our Tigers on against Ole Miss! A week from now I will be at my parents home in the Memphis area, a week and counting...

I know this is random but I just wanted to say:

GO TIGERS GO!
must be an old repeat. the first 48 stopped showing memphis over a year ago, or rather i should say memphis stopped the first 48.
Yea I remember the debate....I was actually wishing they wouldn't stop it but I guess there were several good reasons for it. They are now shooting in Birmingham (my new home).
For the record, Tony Mullins, who is one of the homicide cops is a huge football fan. He has also been a board member of the Highland Hundred. He took the Bradford murder and worked it hard. It is a damn shame the city pols screwed up the show for the city because it showed that the cops clear more cases than anyone else in the country. They get their man almost all of the time.

How do you like that new Bass Pro shop in Leeds? Stopped there over the summer. One word, AWESOME!

I was telling my friends a while back (whilst watching the first 48 and listening to them bashing Memphis) that Memphis has an excellent homicide unit and that is why we were highlighted on A&E....they not being from Memphis didn't really understand. *sigh*

You know what? I haven't been in it yet! I go by it so many times in a week but I have never gotten a chance to stop and look around. It looks huge, though! They recently have unveiled plans for a new upscale outlet mall right across the interstate from the Bass Pro Shops. The details are still getting ironed out but some of the stores thrown around were: Banana Republic and Gap (I could only hope for a J. Crew outlet but that would break me financially).
You know, I got a little homesick watching the First 48 as well. That's messed up.

I knew this town had something that was rated in the top ten.
The zoo has always been the selling point for me. It is simply awesome and no matter where I go; Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville etc. they are all crap compared to Memphis' zoo. I am always quick to point that out to the kids who I am taking in whichever city I am in.

Birmingham actually has a terrible zoo. All the primates have a.i.d.s. and are dropping like flies.
