For all those ex-Buc football fans that would like to take in a college football game in an exciting enviroment, get yourself some tickets to Appy State.

When ETSU dropped football, I got season tickets and have really enjoyed going to the games. Their stadium just keeps getting bigger and better and the atmosphere is super. The town and university have done a FANtastic job of creating that big time feeling.
Sorry, but I'd rather take an ice pick to the knee than cheer for crApp state. Still hate them...
I'll just stick to Friday night football games, more exciting.

Friday night football games are not more exciting than ASU football. They couldn't dream of comparing to the glory that occurs when the Mountaineers take the field. ASU has always enjoyed an exalted Saturday afternoon atmosphere tucked away in the mountains of the Appalachia. However, just because the administration of ETSU is filled with a congregation of corrupt traitors, doesn't mean that we should take up the cause of the Mountaineers.
When I was reading the article in the Press about the new baseball stadium I just for a second imagined what it would have been like to substitute the word football for baseball. What a headline that would make.
Gentleman, I'm not taking up the cause of Appy. I'm just saying I like going to fun and exciting college football games and Appy provides that entertainment just 60 minutes away. I would go see Furman, Wofford, Georgia Southern, Tennesse Tech, Middle Tenn, Memphis and etc. if I lived close to them.

I love football and wish I was watching the BUCS ( I never missed a game, home or away, in 22 years ) but the adminstrations actions and inactions forced me and many other Buc fans to go elsewhere for their sports fix.

Well I suppose it's more respectable than watching UT
BOONE—Appalachian State University rose to the No. 9 spot in the “Best Universities-Master’s in the South” category in U.S. News & World Report’s 2009 America’s Best Colleges Guide. Appalachian tied with the College of Charleston for the ninth-place ranking.

Appalachian has placed among the top 15 southern universities since the rankings first appeared in 1986. Appalachian also is included in the magazine’s first-year experiences and learning communities listing in the “Programs to Look For” category.

“Appalachian continues to rise to new levels of excellence,” said Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock. “It’s no secret that Appalachian offers top academic programs, has highly qualified faculty and staff, and provides the mentorship and support that helps our students make a difference in the state, nation and world. However, it is always gratifying to see the outstanding work of our faculty, staff and administrators recognized.”

Other areas considered in the rankings are average freshman retention rate (5 percent) alumni giving (5 percent of score), percent of faculty with highest terminal degree (3 percent), number of classes with 50 or more students—the fewer the better—(2 percent), acceptance rate (1.5 percent), student/faculty ratio (1 percent) and the percent of full-time faculty (1 percent).
