I was thinking the other day, "how cool would it be to have a museum dedicated to UAB athletics and name it the UAB/ Gene Bartow Athletics Hall of Fame?" What do you guys think?

The idea has been proposed and floating around for over a year now....stuck in athletic department oblivion at the moment... more of a hall of fame or honor at the moment...but with the potential to be expanded to museum size (in the new stadium) when feasible.

I think we need to focus our attention (and money) on improving the program first.

That's all well and good, but the proposal made would cost the school nothing for the first 10 years.

At the present time, we could "make do" with a "starter Hall" by putting up a display in Bartow Arena that could be enlarged when money and better accomodations become available. I think time with regard to it's prime subject is of the essense, so go with what we have to do something NOW.

try explaining that and get anyone with authority to make a decision though. I'm telling you this very proposal has been made almost 2 years ago...

We could hang photos of the inductees from the Bartow torso on the Arena concourse.

Maybe we can have Fatheads made and then stick those up around Bartow.

Nah, Fatheads are pretty expensive. The athletic department would settle for the 8x12" metal lithographed signs.
