If we ever have an on campus stadium which I think we will. Which one of these companies do you think would put up some or most of the money for a stadium including naming rights.

1. JVC (Stadium)
2. Hyundai (Stadium)
3. Russell Athletics (Stadium)
4. Milo's (Stadium)
5. Golden Flake (Stadium)
6. Full Moon (Stadium)
7. Regions Financial (Sports Complex)
8. Mercedes Benz (Stadium)
9. Hibbett Sporting Goods (Stadium)
10. Compass Bancshares (Stadium)

Regions.

BTW, Russell probably won't be in a charitable mood now that we're a Nike school.
RBC

Hyundai is tight with a dollar and a pain in the arse to deal with.
Hall Thompson is on the BOT and once supported UAB athletics under WB? Do not know where he stands now with UAB Athletics? If still in good standing, let's go for "Thompson Stadium with Alumni Field or Fieldhouse"?

Just sayin.
Didn't Russell sell to an out of state (maybe out of country) owner? I have read that JVC has cut back with many lay offs too. Not a good economic climate for non-medical expenses for UAB. Hall may be a bright spot on that list (or Harbert, for that matter) since construction may hold up well in these times.

Dont Think Hall Thompson is on the BOT now.. but he has been a strong supporter of UAB athletics, Gene Bartow particularly, in the past.

In 2007, when the stadium was last actively being considered 4 companies indicated some degree of interest in the naming rights at that time. None of them are on the above list. I can't tell you the specific companies, but they were comprised of 2 banks, 1 utility and 1 grocer.

Yeppers. Trust me, folks: the magic attendance number of 30,000 to make an on-campus stadium happen wasn't just pulled out of thin air by me or anyone in the UAB administration.
Well let us make it happen captain!!!!!!!!!

I agree

Much easier to believe that I or another blazer fan will win the lottery.

Than that there is a triple super secret vendor that is simply waiting on 30K attendance at games to spring millions each year for naming rights. After all it is only 20 million to 1 on the lottery odds and severalof us are tying
We need to prove that we can put butts in seats. If we can string a couple of winning seasons in a row we'll go a long way on that front. 30k is nowhere near impossible if we start winning and playing exciting football.

There are companies with local ties who are willing to buy in if the product and the price is right. UCF built a very nice stadium that we could emulate for around $60m or so. If we build the OCS in the area where the practice field is it will be highly visible from I-65 and somewhat visible from 20/59. UCF sold naming rights to their stadium for around a million a year, and it's in the middle on nowhere and backs up onto the piney woods. If we made a good deal we might could see as much as $2m/year. Over ten years naming rights alone could cover around a third of the cost of construction.

Sure, this won't happen now. It will take time for the economic tide to turn, and it will eventually. What we have to do is to put ourselves in the position to make a move if an opportunity presents itself, and that requires planning and positioning now.
Win, Get butts in the seats and good things follow.
Three words ... 13. "Watson Brown Stadium"!!!

Because nothing else will do!

Yes.
Callaway will sneak into a BCS bowl this year. We will average 60,000+ at the Old Gray Lady. Roddy White will make a generous donation.

Callway Stadium: Roddy White Field
Seats: 45,000

And let me guess, the grocer is out of business, at least one of the banks got swallowed up by a bigger one from NY or San Francisco, and the utility is still reeling from it's bird ads.
