We all know how good of a shooter Preston is. And, I've seen some great video of how good of a shooter Drew Barham is. What about Malik Thomas and James Harvey's games? Anyone know anything about their skill levels?
i heard thomas is a 6'4 power foward.

not much about harvey though
Drew proly won't get released from his LOI, so we proly won't have him this year. Can't see Harvey making a huge impact and the jury is still out on Malik. Some say he's a PF and some say more of a combo guard.
Looks like there might be some minutes available at power forward.

No disrespect, but IMO Drew will be released from his LOI.
Yeah....... i am pushing 40 but may head down for the try-outs. I have 4 years of eligibility remaining and I may never have a better shot at being a memphis tiger. 03-wink

The return of Omar Sneed!!
The contribution of the walk-ons will be a major issue on whether we are contenders next year. We are down to 9 scholarships players (and that assumes health/eligibility/wavers all working out) and that leaves no real depth. While 7 or these players will be rotation contributors, it is a bit unfair to ask Niles-Henderson or Ngaloro to contribute more than a hard 15 minutes of sweat and guts.

So we've got 7 men in our rotation:

C: Coleman
PF: Garcia
SF: Spoon
SG: Sallie / Mack
PG: EWilliams / Kemp

So we'll need some contributions from PHN and Ngolaro, and DWolken is hinting Simpkins might be returning. But the walk-ons will play a few minutes at times (injuries, grades, match-ups).

So.... what have these guys got? I have high hopes for the player that earned a schollie from Southern Illinois. If a school like SIU offered him, he might not be a star, but he could be hardnosed support...

I agree. I think Preston and Barham (if he's allowed a release) could give us some good minutes. I don't know much about the other two. That's why I asked about their abilities.
simpkins?? i was wondering about him. didn't want to go to the garciasimpkins thread since they've probably never heard of him there 03-lmfao

since we've de-cal'd, i hope he'll recognize
Harvey played a year or so at a junior college. He's not slaw.

the team is going to sink or swim with the scholarship players. I don't expect much from the walk-ons. One thing we can use as a guide is last year's UAB team. They had a slim roster and competed very strongly in CUSA (minus us). I don't see any reason why we can't be in a similar if not better position than what they were in. UTEP, Tulsa and maybe Houston will be our main competition. Take care of business against everyone else and let's see where we fall.

Hmmmm, seems to me we still got ourselves a team.....
Yep

Preston has been, is, and will continue to be an asset to the Tiger basketball program no matter how many minutes he sees on the floor. If you knew anything about the team, it's players, or others involved with the program, you wouldn't make such an asinine statement. Even if you didn't (and it's obvious you don't), we don't post such disparaging remarks about our Tigers on this board. Take it somewhere else.
