PROVIDENCE, R.I. (BIGEAST.org) – The BIG EAST Conference has announced the league opponents and game sites for its men’s basketball teams for the 2009-10 season.

In 2009-10, the BIG EAST will play an 18-game conference schedule, allowing teams to face 12 opponents once and three opponents twice. It will mark the third year of the 18-game schedule, which began for the 2007-08 season. All 144 regular-season conference games will again be televised, either by CBS Sports, the ESPN family of networks or ESPN Regional Television.

In 2007-08, the BIG EAST tied its own NCAA record by placing eight schools into the NCAA Championship. This past season, the BIG EAST advanced seven teams to the NCAAs. The conference was the first to have five teams reach the NCAA regional semifinals and the first to have four squads reach the regional finals. Connecticut and Villanova advanced to the Final Four.

The decisions regarding repeat opponents are based on natural interest, geography, rivalries, television contractual obligations and competitive balance.

The full 2009-10 conference schedule will be announced at a later date.

UCONN, Notre Dame and South Florida are our mirror games. Tougher than last year's.
would love to knock off nova at home this year

As well as finally beating UCONN.

I wouldn't mind seeing a thrashing of Marquette at home for payback.

BTW, Nova here would look great on the Big Monday schedule.
The good thing is UCONN will not be as good as they were last season. But yea this is harder than the St Johns, Georgetown, and Providence combo (though we did go 0-2 against Providence) simply because UCONN is on the schedule.

It still kills me that we don't get a home and home with Louisville every season.
no thabeet....best time to have uconn twice in 3 years!

with born ready, uc better be getting some espn and cbs games....screw that regional crap!
I'd say they have a pretty decent schedule. UConn will still be really good with Kemba Walker, Jerome Dyson, Stanley Robinson (who is going to be an absolute beast this year), Ater Majok, and Gavin Edwards. That is a really good starting 5 but I still think the Cats split with them, especially after getting so close so many times. Notre Dame loses a lot (McAlarney, Ayers, Zeller, and Hillensdale) but still have Harongody+Jackson and add two decent transfers, still think Cincy can take both games from them though...they are going to be very thin. USF should be better but as long as Cincy plays their game I see them winning both too.

The Bearcats should win around 7 home games (UConn, Nova, Cuse will be tough) but the rest are all very winnable. They have some tough road contests at Ville, UConn, GTown, WVU, and Seton Hall and I see them taking two of those. Do the math and I say we finish with around 13 and 5 in the conference (give or take a game)...should be an exciting year.
For the life of me, I still don't know why we don't play Louisville as a mirror opponent. Since we've moved to this new conference format it's been that way and they should accommodate this big rivalry!

Is Majok going to play?
Pretty sure he is eligible mid-season around December just like Ibrahima Thomas...might want to double check though. He did remove his name from the NBA draft though, I know that for sure.

UConn's Majok removes name from NBA draft
June 15, 2009

STORRS, Conn. (AP) -The University of Connecticut says freshman basketball player Ater Majok has removed his name from the NBA draft.

Majok, a 6-foot-10 forward, said in April that he planned to use the pre-draft period to assess where he stood with the NBA, but planned to return to school.

UConn coach Jim Calhoun has said there is also a possibility that Majok could leave school and play in Europe.

Majok, a former refugee from Sudan, is not eligible to play at Connecticut until the end of the 2009 fall semester. His name has also been linked peripherally to an NCAA investigation into possible recruiting violations at UConn.

Hopefully he's not a freak like Thabeet. UCONN is due.

I've been told Majok is afraid to show up at UConn because he fears McClain will take him to school. This matchup is why they scheduled UC vs Uconn twice this coming season.

Of course, "by take him to school", I mean literally take him to school in a big yellow bus. McClain just got his commercial license and has been threatening to take all the BEast inside players to school. I don't think he gets it quite yet. Maybe as a senior. 03-drunk

Good question, especially considering that league has done a lot to protect other league rivalries (Cuse -G'town, WVU-Pitt).
