Quote:A former Eastern Michigan University football player was charged with assault after seriously injuring a man during a fight outside a downtown Ann Arbor bar Saturday, police said.
Dwayne Harrison, 22, was arraigned Saturday on one count of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm.
He is accused of injuring a man during a fracas involving four other people outside the Fifth Quarter in the 200 block of South Fifth Avenue at about 1 a.m., Ann Arbor police Detective Sgt. Pat Hughes said.
The 24-year-old Chelsea resident was taken by ambulance to the University of Michigan Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Hughes said officers responded to a call for a fight outside the bar and arrested Harrison, a former Eagles defensive back, without incident.
Further details about what caused the altercation were not available this morning, Hughes said.
